No Good Deed : You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

Just curious what you guys think here. I was talking to my friend about this after we saw the movie. And she said she thought the only reason she let him in because of course he was good looking. Of course this is hypothetically speaking

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

I thought the same thing. I think that if she thought he was ugly or looked crazy, she would've slammed the door the moment she saw him. People tend to equate unattractiveness with danger.

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

Of course. Same goes for guys. If a hot chick rings the door bell of course our guards gonna be let down.

This^^^ And vice versa.

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

No I don't. And you can tell the movie implies this and sets up the situation. Terri is unhappy in her relationship and if there would be any time she is "looking" it would be at that point, where an attractive person is outside needing help. Of course she'll let him in.

And a little later, she looks at him with attraction when he takes off his shirt in exchange for a new one. As another poster said, people equate attraction with good qualities.

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

Probably not.

But, I watched the movie the other day and I thought what she did was really off base. I did not think of the attraction angle but that could be why she let go of her common sense.

Now a days, one should just tell a person to go to a gas station, or better yet, offer to call the police for them.

I don't agree with just shooting some stranger at your door as some freak did to a woman somewhere [I don't feel like looking it up] who was banging on his door at night but your should be careful about letting them in too.

^ That was in Detroit. He was found guilty as he should have been.

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

this was a good question! she was definitely attracted to him and that made her more vulnerable

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

Thank You!

That was really sick and really wrong.

Its' wise to be distrustful of someone banging on your door late at night. Its' wise not to let any such person into your house late at night or even in the day time. But unless the person is attempting to break in on you or some such criminal act, you don't have the right to assume criminal intent and just gun them down

Why not just call the police ?

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

I don't think him being attractive or not had anything to do with letting him in. Even before she offered the invitation, she was cautious until she realized she couldn't just leave him out there in the rain. Besides, it goes with the title of the film. What's the saying? "No good deed goes unpunished", Her good deed was letting a stranger that needed her help into her home, and she was punished for it because the guy was a psychopath.

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

You are right about the title of the film. And, I accept that her feeling for him on the rain issue was the main motivation.

But, I also believe it is easier to empathize with someone you feel is attractive.

I suspect that the attraction angle helped her to "let go of her common sense." I suspect that, if he had been a nastier looking, nastier acting, person, she would not have gone there.

That was Renisha McBride.

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

That, along with the recent fight with her husband, definitely helped.

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

You actually thought he was attractive? Lol

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

Yeah, I don't actually see Elba as attractive. Apparently, many women do, and Henson character was one of them.

No, I don't think she would have let him in if she thought he was unattractive. Good looking people can get away with more than not-so-good looking people.

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

He's not my type... but he is a very attractive guy, and everyone women I know think he's insanely hot, attractive, sexy and etc.

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

I really didn't think Terri was letting him in because he was attractive. She just saw a man on her porch that looked like he was in need of help. Once he was in her house and taking off her shirt and prancing around him made me think she was getting a slight flirtatious.

Re: You think Terri would have let Collin in if he wasn't attractive ?

No.
