Westworld : Do they use real guns and real bullets?

Do they use real guns and real bullets?

I just saw episode 1 yesterday.

Am I correct in assuming that the tourists and "hosts" are supposed to be using real guns/bullets?

And the "hosts" are just programed to not shoot any humans. And the guns are somehow calibrated to not fire if aimed at actual human beings. (as was the case in the old Yul Brynner movie)

If this is the case, then my question is,

What about ricochets?

Re: Do they use real guns and real bullets?

Wondered this too. I can't seem to make sense of how the tourists don't shoot one another by accident. The bullets seem real on all sides. In episode 7 the hosts shoot up a train and it's definitely with real bullets, so how does one of those bullets not accidentally kill the tourist who's on board, i have no idea. I think the entire premise of the show gets sillier the longer you watch and ask questions. Sorry I'm no help

Velocity controlled bullets. Wasnt that hard was it? Perhaps too hard to imagine? Got any other plot holes that needs filling?
