Westworld : 9.1??

Really? Overrated much.

The show is a 7.8 at best. Must be 15-24 year old boys driving the rating up.

the one thing i just don't get is why most tv shows are always rated so highly here. so no surprise here. but i agree, westworld would be around 7.8 if it were a movie

From what I've seen they usually start off high because of shills then level out in the second season. I don't think 9.1 is too high, though, but I never use the imdb rating system.

9.1 is very high for it.
This show is not even close to Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul or Game of Thrones - not by a mile.

I am a fan of Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul -even if i find the latter too slow to take off- but they just don't compare. Game of Thrones does by the quality of its production.

Well obviously Game of Thrones requires much more in terms of budget and production. But I'd say Breaking Bad is the best show there ever was. Game of Thrones does not quite match the excitement of BB - partly because it's a fantasy setting so we feel disconnected from it somewhat - sort of like a role playing game.
For kids of course GOT is the ultimate.
If I were to rank i'd do it as so:
1. Breaking Bad
2. Better Call Saul (thought the first season of BCS was rivaling BB actually)
3. Game of Thrones

Breaking Bad was great but also had a lot of "garbage", like many of the over the top/cringe-worthy/dull son if not wife scenes. Just to be clear i mostly binge watched Breaking bad only catching up to the last two seasons.

In regard to Better call saul i was expecting a quicker transition to the BB side of Saul, the end of season 1 was announcing it yet nothing exactly happened yet, the family matters are fine and i understand that the plot/character development is set to happen -like BB- over many seasons but i was expecting more from the second season. Both seasons were too short with only ten episodes and the wait between seasons can be excruciating, moreover because i don't really "watch TV" lol, i mostly binge watch shows excepting for those i am already invested in so my excitement is all relative as i am most of the time not exactly waiting all the week long for the next episode.

Otherwise I try to rate shows relatively to the overall package more than how i relate to the genre.

Westworld is 80x better that Better call Saul and 5x better than Breaking Bad. Game of Thrones along with The Walking Dead are some of the most overrated Tv since Lost. Sorry.

The show is, it's just not in a style you enjoy so you need to consider your own biases against it. The amount of attention to detail for the BACKGROUND (ie 99% of it won't be noticed or acknowledge by the vast majority of the audience unless pointed out) is ridiculously high, past scenes despite looking like the same set will have numerous changes that remain consistent throughout the whole series. Pretty much every reveal in the show was shown many episodes before hand just by details in the background of scenes.

Attention to detail? That doesn't quite make up a show. Not in the least.
The storyline is what matters and the storyline is rather weak.
It's been done many times before as well.

I rarely give bad rating to a TV show because if I hate it, I probably have only seen 1 or 2 episodes (maybe even only part of an episode) before I give up on it, and I don't want to rate a show with dozens of episodes based on 1 or 2. I rated Supergirl low because I really gave that show plenty of chances and made even made it through most of the first season, and I rated Sports Night low because fate conspired to make sure I saw at least a dozen episodes of that horrible mess, but that's all I can think of.

So if most of the votes on TV shows are coming from people who like the shows, they would be high.

I think its because there are not that many voters as there are with movies. The rating of the series overall is an average of the rating of all episodes. So if you're really into the series and go on watching each and every episode you would obviously rate it high. What's the sense of watching 10 episodes without enjoying it?

Because it is easier to involve somebody in a longer story. Humans for instance get to like others the more time they spend with them.
A regular feature movie lasts about 2 hours and is not quite enough time to create an emotional connection.
Hence why tv shows are generally overrated for what they provide in terms of artistic merit.

It's rated consistent on other sites, Rotten Tomatoes reviewer rating is 89% and viewer rating is 92%. Ratings are subjective, one person may see it as a 7 or even a 4, however others may enjoy it and rate it higher. I rated each episode I viewed, some I rated higher than others. Again, we are not all going to see it the same.

"7 at best" yet you put a 9 for Narcos: which is obviously great but certainly not better than this (from the production to the writing, cast, acting, soundtrack, etc: Westworld is all over top-notch). I would put a 8 to 8.5 to Narcos and a solid 9 to Westworld if that would have not decreased its current rating of 9.1.

I think the studio employed a botnet to inflate the rating. No way does the quality of the show merit such a rating

if the measuring stick we're using is the rest of tv then a 9.1 isn't high enough.quality speaks for itself so maybe this show isn't for you,i'd advise watching the big bang theory instead

I think TV shows'll always have high ratings, since the ones who actually go through the effort to look at the IMDB page are probably fans. If you don't find the show all that impressive you'll just watch one/a couple episodes and leave it be and not give it any rating at all. The ratings are nonsense anyway so who cares?

When risible shows with crappy writing, horrible editing, pathetic plots and wooden acting like e.g. vikings are rated 8.6/10 and ranked 4th in popularity over imdb you would expect that such a brilliant show -from the production, writing, cast, acting, soundtrack, etc- be rated 20/10.

edit: i just rated it 10 -not rating it earlier was an oversight on my part- not to annoy you or because it would be perfect but because doing otherwise would decrease its current and more than merited 9.1 rating. Obviously if things are going downhill season 2 i will change accordingly.
It is the very best of TV production, right next to from the top of my head Game of Thrones and other -although less spectacular- Fargo.

I wanted to love it. Maybe should have loved it :( just didn't. Regardless, miles away from the G.O.A.T like fans claim ALREADY.

Can tell you right now, it will never ever be on the same plain as the best (The Wire, BB, Sopranos, Deadwood, etc.)

I think it deserves at least a 9.3

I don't think it should be rated that high but I can understand why. It was very different show that didn't suck (which isn't easy). Plus very good performances by some actors.

But it had a lot more potential. Which is why I still haven't decided how to rate it.
