No alternatives will be successful unless they have a dedicated searchable board for each film like IMDb used to have.

I stop in at popular movie boards but it's the obscure ones that will be buried in a free for all forum, like The Reincarnation of Peter Proud, or The Summer of '42.

I have no interest in free for all forums and won't join any unless they actually can closely replicate IMDb's layout. I don't know if anyone can actually pull it off, but I can promise you that there a lot of folks looking into the feasibility of trying a true clone of IMDb. Anyone who can can steal IMDb's thunder. I'm sure IMDb right now thinks they're big enough to weather an attack.

I'll check IMDb's Facebook page now and again (I only log onto Facebook once a week at most) to see if someone posts a respectable replacement.

themoviedb.org seems the closest so far.

Yep. Just registered today from a suggestion from another movie thread. It seems to be very similar to IMDb for message boards.

It would be nice if everyone can control themselves and keep questions and answers on topic.

Yeah, I just signed up for that site as well. I also liked having boards for each individual movie and show, so this looks like it has potential.
