Project Runway Junior : Flamboyancy of the gay kids
Re: Flamboyancy of the gay kids
I think it has to do with the fact that this new generation had grown up in a time when gay pride has really taken wing. I'm happy that they feel so free to be themselves. It's weird moving into an older generation, but it's also beautiful to see what the new young generation is like.

Re: Flamboyancy of the gay kids
LOL! I was texting a friend of mine about that last night. They have all the moves and the lingo. A whole different generation.
Twitter - My date last night was awful. And then he wouldn't even spend the night.

Re: Flamboyancy of the gay kids
yes they are super flaming
No Roger, no Rerun, no rent

Re: Flamboyancy of the gay kids
I lost any flamboyance I had at that age due to social pressure to fit in and fear of being bullied. I guess these kids are more confident in themselves or don't feel pressure to butch it up.
Re: Flamboyancy of the gay kids
Matt is ridiculously flaming..better call Severide and the rest of Engine 51 of "Chicago Fire" to hose that kid down! (Then again, he might just like that, lol!)

Matt isn't just flamboyant. He's also super flirty and coy acting. It was uncomfortable to watch him batting his eyelashes at Tim on the first episode. He toned it down a little on this last one.
Re: Flamboyancy of the gay kids
They almost seem like parodies of a gay stereotype.

I agree. They are ber-gay and it's somewhat distracting. It's all good though. It great when you can accept yourself as you are no matter what age.
I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ-Gandhi
Re: Flamboyancy of the gay kids
I agree, they're like caricatures. All of the kids are incredibly dramatic though. Maybe it's just the age and new times of being accepted for who they are.

Re: Flamboyancy of the gay kids
I love it and agree they can be free now. Unlike previous generations. They're very fortunate to be able to be true to themselves.
Re: Flamboyancy of the gay kids
They're hilarious and I love it! Reminds me of my friends from design school days. I am glad that we live in a world where so many kids feel confident to be who they are I know it's not perfect yet but I am happy that we are moving in the right direction towards love and acceptance for all.
Re: Flamboyancy of the gay kids
One thing was a little disturbing though. That kid Matt who seems very flirty with everyone was really flirting with Tim. Tim's face got bright red and he seemed like it was affecting him. I would not want to see what sort of images were running through his mind. Not really appropriate for the Lifetime channel.
Re: Flamboyancy of the gay kids
Yes they are super flamboyant- to the point of doubt. I worry that this is the new standard of gay. It is as if, if you aren't flame retardant you aren't really gay. I remember having a huge crush on a boy when I was in high school who I had no idea was gay. He never bought into the flaming gay personae, even now as an adult he is interested in guns and motorcycles and has never dressed in women's clothing or manscaped. It seems sad to me that kids today are seeing being gay as a whole identity that requires them to embrace feminism and over-the-top personalities and I worry that they are actually denying themselves in an effort to have their sexual preference taken seriously.
If that is who they are then great, but I work with young people and I see it all the time so it has become a growing concern for me.
