Alone : What a Finish (spoilers)
Re: What a Finish (spoilers)
Actually they didn't compete at a fair level - males have more muscle mass than females, and therefore have an advantage even before they start: More muscle mass = the more to mass to loose before it becomes critical to your health.
I'm sorry to say this, and I'm probably getting slammed, but this can never be a fair contest, mixing males with females. Yes females may have a better and stronger psyche, but males usually have a stronger body, with a lot more body mass, so they're in advance even before the contest begins.
They should do an all female series, that way it would be fair.

Re: What a Finish (spoilers)
But women have a higher percentage of fat than men, and that gets burned first in starvation mode. So maybe it makes it a bit fair. But when it comes down to it, the challenge should be about surviving and thriving and working with the environment, not who can starve the longest.
Re: What a Finish (spoilers)
yeah a starving contest is no good, they were both weak and starved,
She was pulled and fowler was just as weak.

Re: What a Finish (spoilers)
I won't argue the point that men and women are built differently, but it gets a little sticky when you try to say which has the advantage. Men have certain advantages and women others, so talking about making it fair gets to be like the old apples and oranges debate.
I think it boiled down to the fact Fowler had more weight he could afford to lose. He looked a little chunky at the beginning. Carliegh didn't have any excess poundage.

Have you seen Oprah, Sherri Shepherd, Lena Dunham, Rosie O'Donnell, Queen Laqueefa or Joy Behar lately?

Have some class.
Re: What a Finish (spoilers)
He does have a point. If all things were equal, the women he listed would have an advantage in "loseable weight." But I think that advantage is greatly offset by their (likely) inexperience, and their probable desire for comfort.

Re: What a Finish (spoilers)
I remember you from the Naked and Afraid boards. You claimed Carrie Booze "was one of the first to tap out this time. Again" which I proved to be factually incorrect (Carrie successfully completed her first challenge). You refused to admit your claim was wrong (because you lack integrity) and made snide comments, instead. Evidently, you should follow your own advice and show some class.

well obviously not all men are more muscular than women. on average yes of course, but that doesn't make competition of a certain man and a certain women unfair. who's was stopping Carleigh from getting fat? Fat is energy storage too.

I was actually thinking that women have an advantage in that they require fewer calories to maintain or operate than men do. I've seen this play out on these survival type shows before when the male seems to deteriorate more quickly. And let's not for get three of the last five and two of the last three were females.
But whatever. I was actually hoping for a tie after Carleigh was pulled. That would have been a first. I would have been cool with Carleigh winning outright as well, I liked her understated perseverance. Fowler was a worthy winner though. Looks like he practically lives on a homestead already, they have a yurt and a greenhouse.

I don't remember if it was Fowler or one of the other guys who said he looked at it more as homesteading than survival. To me survival is where you keep yourself alive until you are rescued or you self rescue; usually a matter of days. Homesteading is more long term like this show.
