Demi Lovato Rips Into Taylor Swift & Her 'Unrealistic' Brand Of Feminism

Welp! It’s safe to say Demi Lovato will not be in Taylor Swift’s “unrealistic” squad any time soon. If ever. Not that Demi even wants to be. The 24-year-old singer just totally incinerated that bridge to the ground after teasing a fire earlier this year.

Last May, Demi tweeted, “don’t brand yourself a feminist if you don’t do the work,” seemingly in reference to Taylor who’s known for her female empowering brand and girl squad full of models. Now Demi is doubling down on the scathing criticism in a new issue of Glamour. Throwing the last remaining *beep* out the window, Demi slams Taylor for being fake.

“I think in certain situations, certain people could be doing more if they’re going to claim that as part of their brand,” the outspoken “Body Say” singer says. “To be honest, and this will probably get me in trouble, I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real.”

The former Disney star is very much serious about realistic body images. Just recently, she “thanks but no thanks” an artist who drew her as a slender mermaid, telling him on Instagram, “Is that how my boobs should look? It’s gorgeous but that’s not my body.” But back to her Glamour interview.

Demi also isn’t here for Taylor Swift’s Katy Perry slander. The country-turned-pop singer created an entire song with “Bad Blood” to slam Katy, a move not very girl power-y in Demi’s eyes.

“I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry 5b4 down, that’s not women’s empowerment,” Demi said. “We all do things that aren’t, but I have to ask myself, ‘Am I content with calling myself a feminist?’ Yes, because I speak out.”

At this point in her career, Taylor’s brand is way too big to fail. Even after being exposed by Kim Kardashian, Taylor is still very much well-liked.

Why Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift hate each other

Re: Demi Lovato Rips Into Taylor Swift & Her 'Unrealistic' Brand Of Femi

I understand about representing all healthy body types. People don't really know about different healthy body types and weight for women. Taylor should be under no obligation to do that to me. So what if her friends are tall and slender? As tall women I can understand wanting that to be honest.

Taylor Swift & Her 'Unrealistic' Brand Of Femi

Is there a reason Taylor Swift even has a "squad?" Most women don't refer to their friends as a "squad." It seems rather strange. Did Taylor ever say she wanted her squad to represent all healthy body types or is 16d0 her squad simply people she likes to hang out with? I personally choose friends based on personality. I really couldn't care less about their body types. If a celebrity wants to call herself a feminist, then fine. However, I don't look to celebrities for guidance on how to live my life or what to believe. In fact, I don't know any sane adult woman who sees celebrities as role models.
