NCIS : OT: a really stupid question…

OT: a really stupid question…

why do those threads keep popping up on the Board re "How to get/watch NCIS for free", and similar titles?

they've been showing up for weeks now, and posted by "people" with really bizarre user names
I also notice there's never any replies, and then the thread drops off, only to come back on another day

so, what the hell is this?
is it some kind of "plot" to install a virus on your computer the minute you click on to it - or what?

my curiosity has finally gotten the best of me!

Re: OT: a really stupid question…

They are showing up on every IMDB board. The ones that I laugh at are the ones offering that for shows on Netflix.

Re: OT: a really stupid question…

It's spam that the proprietors of this site colud prevent if there was a will to do somuch like the jag-off who's panties are in a wad about Asian representation on several of this forum's boards them that's in charge will take a little disruption for the clicks they get from it.

Re: OT: a really stupid question…

Some degenerate POS in Romania or Nigeria is spamming thousands of posts every day, so that their cock sucking son of a bitch brother can make a couple of pennies.

Hopefully a lightning bolt hits their shed and they burn to death.

Re: OT: a really stupid question…

It's an equivalent of a pop up ad. Someone posts here trying to drive people to clink on the links to their site. If you report the post for either flooding multiple message boards with the same message (they usually post their links on many different boards) or for promoting illegal downloads, the message will instantly disappear.

Re: OT: a really stupid question…

I reported the one here after I saw exactly the same thing on 4 other boards I frequent.

I never click on those links - too fearful of a virus getting past my internet security.

that's exactly why I never click on to those threads/links!

you can report as much as you want, but just like those annoying "bot calls" I get on my home phone, no matter what I do they will never stop happening!

even signing up for the "Do Not Call Registry" didn't - and doesn't - stop them!

my fave "bot calls"s are:

> you owe the IRS $$$!
call this number immediately or you may face imprisonment!!

> your computer needs to be "fixed", and "I am calling to help you fix it, okay?"
NO!! it's NOT okay!!!
(this call usually comes from India)

> someone you love or your doctor has signed you up to receive your "Life Alert" system

it's just one of those "evils" I have learned to live with - but thankfully, I'm smart enough not to fall for any of them

So do I.

I refuse to be outwitted by a 2-dimensional character in a cheap romantic thriller!

Re: OT: a really stupid question…

I spent weeks reporting reporting reporting ad-nauseam 'til I was blue in the face, but most of the accounts that I reported remained active week after week. So I quit

so much for "reporting, reporting, reporting"!

over the years I've been reported by people who have, um, disagreed with things I've said/written
edit:
I'm innocent, I swear! I'm just a sweet little old lady stating my personal opinion!

I've even gotten the dreaded Warning of Death, but after a few weeks it goes away, and I 'm still here posting away!

so, IMveryHO, reporting is really a pointless waste of time

Re: OT: a really stupid question…

I've had the red warning once or twice. My biggest problem with it is they don't tell you which post caused it or why that post was deemed bad.

One time I came on here and the reply button was gone from the posts and the add button was gone from the main board with no explanation. I was wondering what I did to merit that and was thinking I wouldn't even be able to tell people I couldn't post. I decided to check if I could send a PM or even read the ones I'd received before and that page had the message that the site was in some sort of maintenance mode.

yes, that's happened to me a couple of times, where it had me wondering, "What did I say to deserve that?"

but the last time it happened to me, I admit to telling the poster I was just "yankin' her chain", and apparently she got her panties in a wad, and took her "widdle hurt feelings" to the "IMDb po-po", and reported me

I gotta' tell you, seldon, it was worth every minute of seeing that Warning of Death just to be able to tell that annoying twit what I thought of her!

well, I'm still here - and she's apparently moved on; haven't seen her around these parts in a while

Re: OT: a really stupid question…

Yeah, the 'bot calls with no one on the other end take all the fun out of messing with them.

Er, sorry. They're just so much fun. They get so confused, like when they call at 6pm and the first thing I say is, "Ha!! You're too late, we ate already!!" While they try to find some meaning in that, I hang up. It seems that years of reading trolls on IMDb has finally paid off in some weird way.

Re: OT: a really stupid question…

I once hosted a party and was busy cooking, I had both frying pans going like crazy, the phone was ringing but everyone was talking and would not answer it, so I did, it was an obscene phone call, I yelled, "hold on" and gave the phone to my wife, I said here, it's for you, after she screamed I started laughing, I know, I'm bad, lol

why is the sky blue?

Re: OT: a really stupid question…

Those are infesting the Agents of SHIELD board too.

Pirating, pirate, pirates want you to pirate. Or they want you to get viruses.
