Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

8/10 from me. Creepy and atmospheric little film from Tobe Hooper, and the killer/creature was pretty unique.

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

Brilliant movie very underrated and is proof that tobe hooper is far from a one trick pony

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

5/10

But I'll always be biased against this one because I put it on as a kid expecting it to be Killer Klowns from Outter Space. It was not Killer Klowns from Outter Space. Might give it another go one day.

According to me, yes. I am the person it's usually according to when I'm talking.

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

You should give it another watch I'm sure you will appreciate it more nowadays

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

I might actually be the only person on earth who truly hated it. 3.5/10

but when you wake up... it's back in the saddle.. again.

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

Your not most people I know don't like it, but everybody has different opinions and it's good to respect another's opinion

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

I like it, but I think it has a few structural problems. I wish I could articulate them now, but I haven't seen The Funhouse in years.

6/10

Is it that the plot point doesn't happen till halfway through? I still rate it an 8. Great makeup and some odd stuff, like making all the carnival barkers the same actor.

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

Yeah, that's one thing. I also don't like how the brother was used. He either needed to be removed from the script or more integrated into the plot. I'm going off of unclear memory, though. I wouldn't be surprised to have someone tell me that the brother was used extensively, but that's not my recollection.

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

9/10 - a great old "cozy slippers" kind of film.

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

5/10 forgettable.

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

6/10 nice pacing in this film, the ending is a bit of a letdown though, the 'freak guy' is too wierd looking then again tobe did show the cows with a split head to say hey its not that wierd, but yes it is you idiot, these sort of things normally dont live till adulthood, and certainly not with hogan like strength.

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

7.5/10 Fun, atmospheric slasher

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

2/10. This didn't deliver at all for me and although the premise was good, the creature make up effects looked ridiculous. I liked Sylvia Miles in it and the atmosphere of the carnival, but that's about it. Totally disappointing. Especially as it's Tobe Hooper.

Two seats in the back of the cinema, hazy. Ah yeah, you're forgettin' it and all the mad *beep* we did

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

i need to see it again now that I'm older but originally probably a 6 for me.

Re: Rate: The Funhouse (1981)

Creepy and settling to be sure, with great atmosphere and good pacing. I enjoy revisiting it every couple years. As a movie, it's not great per se - 6.5/10
