Saoirse Ronan : Saoirse's News Summary Continuation

Re: Spot from the UN

Probably this look has to do with the fact the event was in the UN..

I like her street style, it´s pretty much her. It´s not all set up by someone else, like most young actresses do.

Re: Santa Barbara Film Festival….

You know if BAFTAs are going to be broadcasted here in BR? Or anywhere online???

Re: Santa Barbara Film Festival….

I've never seem them being broadcast here, but you can watch the redcarpet online at the bafta's site: http://www.bafta.org/film/awards/red-carpet-live
There is this site too,its from last year:http://www.ustream.tv/channel/watch-bafta-awards-2015-live-stream

It will be easier to find at the time for the show, i can post it here, if i find one tomorrow.

Re: Santa Barbara Film Festival….

That would be great!! I really want to watch Brigada :)

Re: Santa Barbara Film Festival….

The only other place i could find is here:http://original.livestream.com/bafta but i don't know if it will work most of the livestreams i found are for the red carpet, i think its because the BBC doesn,t allow reproduction of the show online. But try to watch through the livestream in the bafta site, maybe it will show more than just the red carpet.

Re: Santa Barbara Film Festival….

I'm trying to decide if I should stay away from the internet today in order to avoid the news. London is five hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time, and I want 111c to watch the show tonight on BBC America.

Re: Santa Barbara Film Festival….

I wouldn't be able to do that Scastagnoli I am too curious.

Re: Santa Barbara Film Festival….

I know, but I haven't made up my mind. BTW, we'll have to wait for the actual award, but using logic one would have to say she's in a good position because Brooklyn is considered a much stronger film than Room judging by the BAFTA noms. Carol is in the best "overall" film category, but there hasn't been the expectation for a Cate win. I'm hoping they don't unduly favor M. Smith due to her institution status in the U.K.

Re: Santa Barbara Film Festival….

I hope don't favor her either, i just went to her page and saw she has been nominated 20 times and won 5! This is Saoirse's third nomination, she is almost orverdue to win. Please Bafta!!

Re: Santa Barbara Film Festival….

BBC News is showing the red carpet live at the moment. As far as I know, it can be viewed on their worldwide service. Seen Saoirse arriving, but she hasn't been interviewed as of yet.

Re: Santa Barbara Film Festival….

She's just been interviewed, as has Julie Walters, who continues to sing Saoirse's praises.
She's extremely popular on the red carpet as fans are continually shouting out "Saoirse".

Re: Santa Barbara Film Festival….

thanks!! I´ll try...

I don't believe this has been posted already.

Re: Time out interview

Really nice interview:http://www.timeout.com/newyork/movies/saoirse-ronan-on-brooklyn-her-stage-debut-why-moms-know-best-and-returning-to-new-york

Photoshoot: http://www.timeout.com/newyork/movies/behind-the-scenes-saoirse-ronan-photos

Isn't she looking too skinny in these photos? Or is it just me, because i was used to her fuller appearence in Brooklyn?

Re: Time out interview

Thanks for both links Poetswan. I'll catch up to them tonight. Saoirse was like an extremely skinny colt as a teenager, so i'd say her current appearance is closer to her normal weight. No question she had a 'fuller" figure in Brooklyn.

Re: Time out interview

I think she might had lost a little weight due to how hectic her schedule has been in the last months?

Anyway, lovely interview.

Re: Time out interview

Good interview. It's kind of weird, but when I was reading the first paragraph, I had it only in my line of sight. I was thinking: "there's no one (in film) like her." It's something I thought about before and posted here on the board from time to time. Then I slightly rolled the page down to read the second paragraph and saw the following sentence:

Ronan, who was born in the Bronx to Irish parents and moved to the Emerald Isle when she was three years old, can’t really be compared to her peers—even the exceptional ones.
Spooky!

BTW, this was the same writer who penned a fantastic review of Brooklyn and Saoirse's performance in it after he saw the film. It's in the review thread. I believe he said she was the leading lady of her generation.

Re: Time out interview

The Witch, which debuted alongside Brooklyn at Sundance, is a movie I've been looking forward to seeing (A24 are releasing it on Feb.29th).
It's star, Anya Taylor-Joy, paid a great compliment to Saoirse in a THR article.

Whom have you been starstruck around?

Dan Romer, who scored Beasts of the Southern Wild. I listen to that soundtrack all the time. And I would die if I met Saoirse Ronan. When I was 15, I watched all of her movies in one day.

Those look good zorro. Perhaps "The Envelope" series is available only through a subscription to The Los Angeles Times.

Congrats to Saoirse.

Re: Satellite Awards….

Just want to point out "Stockholm, Pennsylvania" won the Satellite Award for Best Motion Picture Made for Television.

Re: Satellite Awards….

That's a true miracle. When I get a chance, I'm going to check this organization to see who makes up its membership.

Re: Satellite Awards….

I know, right? They're almost as legit as Peabody in terms of giving awards to the deserving and being immune from all the glitz and politics.

Re: Satellite Awards….

It remains th da0 e one Saoirse film I've seen only once and never plan to see again.
At least Lost River I might see again.

Re: Satellite Awards….

For me its Stockholm and The host, I can't endure both of them.

Re: Satellite Awards….

Re: Satellite Awards….

No ceremony for this one? I´d like to see her receving an award :/

If you check the link, make sure you see the part where Domhnall Gleeson picks the Supporting Actor award for his dad, this Brendan guy you may've heard about. It's a riot.

New magazine image….

She appears quite thin here when compared to how she looks in Brooklyn. Saoirse manages to create some pretty dramatic still images.

Re: Saoirse's News Summary Continuation - "Tell Me"

Although it didn't win, Tell Me (Lost River) was one of the 5 nominated songs for Best Original Song Written For A Film at the 2015 World Soundtrack Awards.
I know most will probably have heard it already, but it's such a beautiful song, it's well worth another listen.

Variety critics weigh in on Oscars….

The three critics from Variety have revealed who they think should win in the major categories. Each of the critics selected different actresses, but the chief film critic, Justin Chang, is the one who selected Saoirse as best actress. To me this is gratifying because although each critic is a fine writer, Chang is an not only a very sharp and perceptive critic but an extremely talented writer. I really dig what he wrote about Saoirse:

BEST ACTRESS: Saoirse Ronan, “Brooklyn.” There will be no complaints here when Brie Larson takes the prize for her anguished work in “Room.” Still, if voters paid as much attention to the performances as they did to the outrage-stoking headlines, Charlotte Rampling would have had more of a shot for her finely chiseled meltdown in “45 Years” — and the odds would be shorter, too, on Ronan, who in “Brooklyn” undergoes a transformation of no less exquisite, exacting subtlety.

The ingenue who made such a striking impression nine years ago with her Oscar-nominated turn in “Atonement” has become perhaps the most captivatingly watchful actor of her generation, that rare performer whose tremulous gaze seems to take in everything and give back even more in return.

Re: Probable feature on CBS Sunday Morning

The following is billed as a "web extra" and since Saoirse hasn't been on the show before I'm pretty sure this means she'll get her own 10-15 minute segment on CBS's Sunday Morning at 9 a.m. EST on Oscar Day. I always expected it, the show's a natural for her.

The CBS interviewer says really nice things about Saoirse: http://youtu.be/vqo3RNtALP0

Re: Probable feature on CBS Sunday Morning

Great video Poetswan. I definitely will re-watch it.

Re: Probable feature on CBS Sunday Morning

The interviewer is Jane Pauley, one of NBC's brightest lights when she co-hosted the Today Show, America's biggest morning show, through the 1970s and '80's. She's married to Gary Trudeau, the writer of the comic "Doonesbury," if that means anything to you.

Re: Probable feature on CBS Sunday Morning

The segment on CBS Sunday Morning was very enjoyable. There was at least one picture I'd never seen before, and there also was a brief glimpse of Saoirse rehearsing with Ben Whishaw. No doubt it'll be available soon via video.

Re: Probable feature on CBS Sunday Morning

Re: Probable feature on CBS Sunday Morning

Thanks for the link Poetswan. I'll watch it again tonight.

Re: Probable feature on CBS Sunday Morning

I particularly loved they showed a bit of Crucible rehearsal. That play will add to the narrative, create a new one actually, as the press frantically has to keep pace trying to explain her. First it was the child with the uncanny knack for accents able to access the emotions of children in grown up films, to the ethereal, waif-like presence of her mid to late teen years, to today's silent screen actress quality with the ability to render emotions wordlessly.
Her roles in The Crucible and The Seagull are NOTHING like any of those and will change the narrative pretty completely.
Then there's Lady Bird coming up that will demonstrate her comedy chops not in evidence since I Could Never Be Your Woman, a film no one saw.
It a good time to be Saoirse, though I worry she has SO much on her plate at the moment. I hope she gets lulled into a sense of routine in her Crucible run.
Also, the photo of her at age 2 (?) with her puppy, Sassy, was utterly adorable.
I made a screenshot of it:

Re: Probable feature on CBS Sunday Morning

Great points you made about her "narrative" Jlent! I really hadn't noticed. I think after the oscars, things will calm down and she will be able to focus on her work and get a sense of reality again.

Re: Probable feature on CBS Sunday Morning

She's always been a wise head on young shoulders; very grounded and down-to-earth. So I'd be very surprised if she's allowed the occasion to get the better of her.
