Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

I like when she speaks english, but I can never understand her spanish, Because I can't speak it.

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

So...this would be a lame attempt to sound funny?

Heh heh heh your funny

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

I think your nickname says it all, tard.

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

Heh, I thought this was going to be a "Mexican Spanish vs. Spain Spanish" kind of thing. Y'know, because the dialects are really different. Anyway...

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

But with all the people coming in from Mexico, Spanish might become mandatory here.

Crazy right?

I know some Spanish because I'm part Mexican and some of my family speaks it a lot.

But I don't understand why people are always like "You shouldn't be learning german. You should be learning English. It will help you more here."

OKAY.

Uhm. Sorry for speaking the language I'm SUPPOSED to be speaking.

I think we should offer free English courses to foreigners living here.

It would help us all.

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

And by " You should be learning English. " I meant Spanish.

MY BAD.

XD
It is late.

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

Exactly.

A lot of "nativists" get all uptight about this, too.
Spanish is going to be big, whether you like it or not.

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

Spanish is actually the second most spoken language in the world, ahead of English (3rd) and behind Chinese (1st).

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

LOL at this comment. Spanish is already big (2nd most spoken language)... but in all the weak countries. And, realistically, it has 0 chance of being big in the U.S. among people that matter for at least two centuries. I'm speaking based on statistics by the way. I'm also not saying Mexicans don't matter... they do... I'm just saying they won't have any clout for a long time and most likely they will be forced to learn English before they are able to get any.

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

The German language sucks though. It's mandatory here in the Netherlands, two years of hell and then I could finally quit the damn subject.

English will help you more, wherever you are instead of German.

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

Wow. Is this the american way of thinking ? People who don't know English are not worth talking to ? Are you for real ? Is this how everybody over there thinks or just you ? You are such an idiot that you are admitting that you don't know any foreign languages. Is there something that makes you worth talking to ? I read a few years ago that 60% of Americans don't know where their country is on the map. I wouldn't be surprised if you were in that 60%. Either way what you posted tells a lot about your education/status so good luck with that buddy

That's confusing and weird. And really not very funny.

Go to the loo, 'cause all the *beep*'s coming out your mouth instead of your a-hole...

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

technically, she natively speaks catalan.

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

>technically, she natively speaks catalan.

Most bilingual Catalan people are "true" bilinguals, being equally
native in both Catalan and Castilian (they learn both languages
simultaneously and to the same degree of proficiency). Some are
only native in Castilian, but speak Catalan as a second language
(if at all). Having Catalan as the only native tongue and learning
Castilian as a second language is quite uncommon, except in old
rural folks.

Same goes for other bilingual areas of Spain.

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

technically, not all catalonians speak catalan. it would depend on how into the whole 'catalan is a seperate country' thing her parents are.
spanish would most likely be her first language. then catalan introduced when she was between 3 - 6, depending on where she was schooled.

LMAO @ this thread,
and it was pretty funny

Let Me Touch You

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

Excuse me, but her Spanish is perfectly fine. She is from SPAIN where they speak the CORRECT Spanish- actually called Castilian. I am from Spain as well, and we have an "accent" where it almost sounds like a lisp. I personally think it's cute but I'm probably bias about this. The Spanish that's spoken in the HISPANIC countries are annoying, to me.

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

you say:
"from SPAIN where they speak the CORRECT Spanish"
"The Spanish that's spoken in the HISPANIC countries are annoying, to me"

sorry to say but (at least) in mexico and colombia spanish is spoken much better than in spain ;-)

as said by yourself, spanish 1908 in spain is a lisp,
don't pronounce all the letters of the words (madrí instead of madrid, enfadao instead of enfadado),
or add letters to the words (fuistes, hicistes),
and change pronunciations (alético instead of atlético, tasi instead of taxi, madriz instead of madrid)

and you say that's the CORRECT spanish... i guess you are annoyed by the spanish spoken in other countries because is more correct than yours...

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

Erm...just to insert a point one of my co-workers made (I'm American), it's easy for Europeans to be bi/multilingual, because there's a large group of countries in close proximity to one another. Here in the states, what do we have? We have...Canada, and Mexico, immediately. Really no need to learn Hungarian, or Scottish Gaelic, or Finnish, or any of those languages. While it does annoy me that my fellow countrymen tend to be close-minded and insular, that attitude is prevalent in other countries, not just us. Use this very thread as an example about us 'stupid Americans'.

Well where'd ya lose him? It's not like he's a set of car keys...

Re: Her English Is Good But Her Spanish Is Awful

The Spanish is definitely from Spain and it does take some getting used especially for those of us that live in the Americas. But, her Spanish is the more proper way of speaking and more refined since Spain is the mother country for all Castillian Spanish. I actually love the accents.
