Mr Selfridge : So, I see it's Friday nights now for Mr. S?

So, I see it's Friday nights now for Mr. S?

Noticed that tomorrow night is the season 4 premiere, whilst trying to catch up with the New Year telly offerings.

It's not a critical thing, but I just wondered how Harry got bumped from his coveted Sunday night time slot on ITV to the second-string Friday night slot?

Those Friday and Saturday night ITV slots are often for mass entertainment reality type stuff, or footie, etc.

The mysteries have Thursday night and so forth.

The idea being that Friday night isn't the night folks get off work and sit with a cuppa for a period show. LOL! It's down the pub or whatnot.

So....poor Harry! How the mighty have fallen? Or not?

Just curious.

Re: So, I see it's Friday nights now for Mr. S?

Because the ratings after S1 have never topped 5 million viewers. :-/

At least it is airing. If Mr Selfridge were a US TV show, it would have been yanked, leaving fans wondering if we'd ever see the rest, OR it would have been burned off at various times on various days and quietly cancelled!

Re: So, I see it's Friday nights now for Mr. S?

It reminds me of an excellent show called Lilies, set in Liverpool at around the same time. That was aired on Friday evenings, and didn't achieve what it could have

Yes! A Heidi Thomas story, too!

Many of us on the board are still in mourning over never finding out what happened to our lovely lilies.

It was a true wrench...such a strong start on the incredibly compelling story. Then...nothing.

GAH.

I think Friday night is an honored slot. It usually means that your show is too good for the populist masses. Yeah the show likely gets cancelled soon, but better to be part of a good show that got cancelled than a poor show that lives on forever.

As for Mr S, or should we start calling him Mr Sheen, or Mr Spiral, as in downward, or just plain Mr Sad. I'm starting to wonder if he ever had any attractive qualities, because they sure are missing recently.
