Vikings : Who is Magnus's father?

Already established that it is Rag cause Mag looks to be a coward.

Aethelwulf was Alfred the Great's father.

What they said, he's Athelwolfs illegitimate son. Would explain why he sent him away, he "threatened" him but I think that was his way of saying I can't hide you any longer.

I'm sorry I see everyone saying this here and on reddit. But when did they say thisI for sure missed something.

Exactly Kwenthrith hooked up with Athelwulf after she had Magnus, I thought.. But I thought of Ecbert too, the timing does make sense. Plus I can see Ecbert ignoring the possibility in favor of Alfred but not so much Athelwuf disregarding his own blood like that.

I think its Ragnar's son and Ragnar is protecting the kid by denying it and sending him away.
Tough break as the kid was living like royalty and now he must fend for himself in the woods, alone. Surely he would die .

Or this. I thought we were actually suppose to assume this. But it's a mystery cause there is no way to know for sure. Ragnar may have not wanted to get emotionally attached like it's to late and complicated so he is on denial of the possibility. Then again I think Ragnar would honor any son he has.. But he'd end being more concerned with Alfred more anyway, I suppose.

I agree about his parentage, Disagree with Ragnar's motivation for denial. I think Ragnar denied him because he didn't want to mess up his plan nor give King E more leverage.

Yes, it seems a bit rough to just be turfed out like that. It won't help at all to identify himself as "Ragnar Lothbrok's Son" (- very bad, virulent suggestion Athelwulf. :( ).

It's Ragnar. He lied about being the father because Ragnar's one virtue is that he loves his children and he wanted to protect Magnus by denying parentage.

I find that hard to believe unless I missed something when I was watching all the past episodes. I did see her piss on him as he said and I seen her riding the king and possibly his son.

I too got the vibe that Magnus is indeed Ragnar's son and there is a reason Ragnar denied him.

She was a friggin' Nymphomaniac, it could by ANYBODY'S son. The goddamn stableboy's for all we know. One thing is for sure, it is NOT Ragnar's son. He NEVER slept with her! I don't see how this is going over people's heads. Must be Christians that believe this since they believe in virgin births and all.

Not sure if that is a result of what happen to her in her past or what but it is sad.

I had to rewatch the scene where Kwentrith cowgirled Ragnar, and actually if you turn up the sound, you hear water spray, so yes, she DID urinate on him. I forget why. So whether Ragnar denied Magnus because he know it could not be his son, or because he wanted to spare the boy any dangerous association with him, doesn't bother me.

What bothers me is why Aethelwulf sent Magnus away like that. If he felt it truly was Ragnar's son, then why did he act so emotional? If it wasn't Ragnar's son, then why send him away to a possible death sentence like that?

I don't believe that he could be his son at all, apart from not being raised as a Viking he doesn't even possess the emotional traits of a Viking.

According to a poster on here who says they play an extra in S5A, Magnus in not in season 5.
