The Maid's Room : kind of strange, but enjoyable

kind of strange, but enjoyable

This one really did not play out like I expected, which is good I guess. There are some strange aspects to it and I found the directing to be a little weird, but overall I think it is an enjoyable flick. Not groundbreaking by any means, but decent.

!!!SPOILERS BELOW!!!

I kind of expected the maid to really witness something profound in person as opposed to how it played out. She was kind of nosy so i expected that to play more into it, but what ultimately happened just kind of fell into her lap.

Wow, the family would have been way better off to just either let her call the cops, or just turn their son in themselves. He prob would have gotten just a slap on the wrist.

I was surprised when the dad killed her.. yeesh, talk about things going from bad to worse!

Some of the situations are hardly plausible... what parents in the world would think it is a good idea to leave their college age boy at home unsupervised, in a mansion like this, with a young super hot Latina maid?? No way.

The aging topee wearing dad utterly kicking the two Latino tough guys asses was yet another eye roller, but hey, it was fun for a moment.

What was the meaning of the final scene? Obviously they had lost what they were trying to save, and the blood was on the fathers hands.. is that what the ants represented?

Re: kind of strange, but enjoyable

I think the plot was all over the place an who kills off the protagonist in the middle of the movie? Once we connected with her and the prison she seems to be in we lose the only character the audience has a real connection with ... wtf? What kind of hack writes this or rewrites this?

...who kills off the protagonist in the middle of the movie?

yeah, good point i failed to mention. Once she was killed, I was wondering what the heck they are going to do with the rest of the movie.

As you stated, I had connected with her, but never did with the guys looking for her (who basically felt like bad guys in this movie, tho they really were not).

It was all strangely put together.

Alfred Hitchcock....Psycho.

This was worth the watch, but some aspects were indeed strange...The ants and the fact that the maid's friends didn't involve the police at all.

"See it with someone you love...Go by yourself"

Re: kind of strange, but enjoyable

Well Hitchcock was a unique genuius who understood perfectly to keep the audience at the edge of their seats. The Soundtrack by Bernard Hermann was a huge part of the atmosphere that kept the interest but here neither the directing nor the barely noticable soundtrack kept my attention. Not to mention the script that had no real climax left since the maids death! In Psycho we have the reveal of the mothers death and the reveal of the psyche of Norman Bates but here there was nothing so not really a good comparison ...

Re: kind of strange, but enjoyable

Agree 100% with the 'Count'. The film lost all its options when the maid is killed.
...LOL, who, TF, is comparing this to Hitchcock's Psycho! The woman killed in Psycho was clever because it then revealed the true/important character of the film - Norman Bates. This film had no one after she was dead. It felt like they ran out of money, and just said, "Ah, that'll do." 3/10.
