Did he think that Joanna would have 0 feeling for Julian. Something had to give.

When he hired her to work the case, I don't think he had any idea of the history between Joanna and Julian.

He didn't find out about that until she was already insideat that point, there wasn't anything he could do without jeopardizing the case.

I did find it a bit hypocritical of him to criticize her, saying that her testimony was compromised by her sleeping with Julian.when it was just as compromised by her sleeping with her handler.
