John Saxon : He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

If it were real life Saxon would get owned.

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

But it wasn't. And Bolo got taken DOWN.

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

The reality of fighting means that if ANYONE kicks you hard enough in the balls you are going down, simple as that. There is no better or worse when that punch or kick lands between your legs, all your skills are taken away in one instant.

HA HA.

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

The reality of fighting? Have you ever been in a no-holds-barred fight? Probably not.

My husband got hit in the balls HARD with a football thrown by a kid with a golden arm. Did it take him down? Yes, but only for a moment. He was able to handle all that pain enough to get back in the game and actually score a touchdown and I'm not joking.

My point is, everyone has a different threshold for PAIN. Some people can take a little of it and some can take a LOT of it, so don't bet your life on a kick in the balls.

You'd better have a backup plan, because even though a good kick in the balls can disable most men, not every man can be disabled that way. And what if your attacker is a woman? ;)

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

John Saxon was not a real martial artist. He was merely an actor portraying a martial artist in a martial arts film.

If he had to fight either Bruce Lee, Jim Kelly, Bob Wall, or Bolo Yeung in real life, HE WOULD'VE GOTTEN HIS BUTT TORE UP FROM THE FLOOR UP!

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

Agreed. Even though I still enjoy watching Enter The Dragon, it's clear that Saxon would have gotten owned in real life. But regardless, that movie is iconic to this day.

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

Actually you are completely wrong about John Saxon. Although he wasnt on the same level as Bruce Lee or a couple of these other guys, he does have a black belt in karate. Earning a black belt isnt all that easy. It takes years of dedicated study & practice.

Btw, his martial arts skills isnt that far behind that of Bolo Yeung.

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

The only thing that John Saxon uses a black belt for is to hold up his pants. LOL

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

Wrong. Saxon has been a black belt, since the 60s.

Willie Nelson received his 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, the day before his 81st bir4thday.

Ed O'Neill received his black belt, in Brazilian Ju Jitsu in 2007, after training for 15 years.

Carpe Noctem!

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

This comment makes the most sense.

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

But it's funny as hell. And Dragonetta deserved it for putting down a legend such as John Saxon.

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

i thought saxon fought Lee aswell. Must be wrong.

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

It wasn't funny at all.

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

You can EARN a black belt with persistence and training... and have zero talent and be a very slow dude who can get knocked out by a child.
It's obvious from the fight scenes Saxon wasn't particularly talented and was just going through the motions-the most obvious evidence how slow he moved.

I know you are but what am I?

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

He also studied judo and wing chun with Bruce Lee!

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

Yes he was. He was a brown belt in shotokan karate, he was not a black belt as some people seem to think.

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

Actually, Dragonetta, JS had studied judo and has a black belt in karate (not sure what style). Also, he was studying kung fu and jeet kune do with Bruce Lee before filming ETD.

Re: He beat Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon

That's why his proffesion is called 'actor'. He had to act as tough martial artist believably without being one in real life.
