Golden Boy : post only if you enjoyed it

post only if you enjoyed it

I thought the starting scene with him as a beat cop was rough and I don't care for the him in 7 years stuff either but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed it. great cast and acting and the dialogue isn't terrible.

again, please post here only if you enjoyed it.

CHIRP CHIRP The sound of crickets chirping, I will not comment about the show because I did not watch it. The title and concept behind the show along with the fact that they seemed desperate to promote this show turned me off to the point where I made a point not to watch it. I am a retired cop and love cop shows but this show did not interest me.

Re: post only if you enjoyed it

This isn’t the type of show I normally watch but the premise of the show sounded interesting so I watched.

I enjoyed it.

The lead actor (Theo James) could tone it down just a little but overall he gave a solid performance. I think his mentor (Chi McBride) is wonderful and the two men have really good chemistry.

The pilot was slightly above average IMHO but I’ll admit to seeing some pretty bad ones this season. I’ll have to watch several episodes before passing judgment. I’ve seen too many great pilots only to realize the show is awful and too many decent shows that aired horrible pilots.

Re: post only if you enjoyed it

Another cop show, yes, but in a different universe than Blue Bloods, Law & Order, etc. The premise of the show aside, I thought both the plot and writing was interesting, simple to understand and follow; and that's good, because even though I've seen most every cop show based in NYC, Goldenboy offers another perspective to the NYPD and seemed to move quickly.

Not every show needs to be groundbreaking to be considered a decent show worth tuning-in; I liken it to an easy read that can offer an enjoyable break from the more melodramatic shows, even though it still involves murder and grief. Plus, it'll be neat to see how Clark rises to the occasions that he basically created with his zeal and savvy, though still green.

I like this show better than the recently cancelled NBC cop show that shows the main character caught between two dimensions or having dinner and drama with the Reagan's of New York, which I can appreciate but sometimes seems like an hour-long scolding at, you know, the dinner table.

Re: post only if you enjoyed it

I saw the second episode tonight, and now I plan on watching the pilot online. I thought it was well done.

Re: post only if you enjoyed it

I'm hooked.

Interesting characters and I like the two cops fighting each other.

It's definitely a decent show, and worth giving a shot.

Re: post only if you enjoyed it

i do think the second episode was much better than the first...and theo james is beautiful :)

Re: post only if you enjoyed it

The 2nd episode is better than the pilot. The lead actor is getting into his role. At the moment Chi Mcbride still outshine Theo James. Not bad overall, hope it sdoesnt get canceled prematurely.

Re: post only if you enjoyed it

I actually wasn't going to watch based on all the previews....thought it would be awful. I'm glad I did watch, though! I really liked the show and hope it doesn't get cancelled. I'm tired of all the reality shows and don't have cable/satellite, so I'm ready for a decent show on regular tv to stick around awhile!

Re: post only if you enjoyed it

Didn't really want to start a new series, but we recorded it as "what the heck" and ended up enjoying it. I like shows like Lost and Person of Interest that slowly reveal backstories or hints of forshadowing. It definitely has potential.

I am worried though, saw that it is being moved to Friday nights. Is that a death blow?

Re: post only if you enjoyed it

NOPE. Golden Boy will air just ONE episode on Friday. THIS FRIDAY NIGHT ONLY. The show will remain in its regular Tuesday night slot for the remainder of the season. Check out the news on today's DEADLINE HOLLYWOOD, Variety, and The Hollywood Reporter.

Re: post only if you enjoyed it

Really enjoyed it. Only watched because of Chi McBride, but found it well-written. Sorry I missed the second ep and hope to watch it On Demand. BTW, I watch almost every cop show, so I have a lot to compare it to.

However, I'm afraid it is not long for this world.

Re: post only if you enjoyed it

I'm loving the show too and I'm sick and tired of network execs screwing around with good shows then using low ratings as the excuse to kill them. If they had promoted it better and aired it in Sept. or January it would have done better in the ratings. PS Theo James is too beautiful.
