Prince Avalanche : Spring Forward - another movie this reminds me of.

Spring Forward - another movie this reminds me of.

Spring Forward is an excellent movie, with a very similar plot to what this sounds like. The dialogue in Spring Forward was so well written (and acted out) that IMHO it could have been enjoyed as a brilliant stage play - even an excellent short novel. Liev Shrieber and Ned Beatty are two guys working as park workers who (have to) get to know each other over the seasons, sometimes getting on each others nerves, but often finding common ground. The highlights are the epiphanies that are shared, you can't help but be reminded of real people in life you have shared times like this with, and how helpful it was.

So how about that? A real dialogue driven movie -- that you NEVER see made enough in mainstream movies. You can see Spring Forward on Netflix. I wonder if it informed the makers of Prince Avalanche? Watch Spring Forward and compare and contrast it to this plot. Obviously I have to watch Prince Avalance myself to give a better comparison.

Really, I am as much of a sucker as anyone else for awesome summer blockbuster - mind blowing aesthetics, but I can still switch gears when artists are actually trying to offer something contemplative and respectful of real life.

I have never even heard of Spring Forward, but it looks really interesting and i like Liev Schreiber. I'm going to watch it. Thanks! And the premise for both movies is kind of similar.

When I discovered YouTube, I didn’t work for five days.

My pleasure! I hope it ends up being a bit of a hidden gem for you!

"Spring Forward" is a masterpiece. One of my all time favorites.

Re: Spring Forward - another movie this reminds me of.

Seconded! I share in both your admiration for "Spring Forward". It's such a beautiful film.

This one was of the same ilk, and I thought the dynamic between Rudd and Hirsch worked and felt authentic. I wouldn't put it with Spring, as I hold it very high esteem; but the sentiment was there. We need more stories like these that don't just satiate our thirst for entertainment. I'm always grateful to the actors, writers, producers who still see fit to make art from a point of passion, rather than profit. I sincerely hope we never reach a point when such things are obsolete.

Spring Forward fan here also.

I especially loved the vignettes between each season.

Re: Spring Forward - another movie this reminds me of.

I looked it up on Netflix but it wasn't there (on the US or UK one), also only seems to be on Region 1 DVD (i am in the UK). Guess I'll never get to watch it :(
I loved Prince Avalanche, and was on the look out for other films with a similar ilk.
