Stupid idiot (this Indonesian designer, not you). The reason for wearing a hijab is to dress MODESTLY, it is not simply to cover the hair. A fancy designer hijab defeats the very purpose of the bloody thing. How are you being modest if you are wearing clothes that scream "everybody look at me"?

They don't realise that it's self-destructive. All these people who are against hijabs and niqabs are probably attached to the military-industrial complex. Hating the hijab creates more inter-cultural conflict, and conflict is good for them financially, but they think that money can also protect them from said conflict.

I don't think he even needed to let anything go. He could have pursued his agenda smoothly, had he framed it in a way people could relate to, instead of piling it on top of the record-setting lying he did to get elected, the barrage of insults he sprayed with abandon during and since the campaign, the crybaby twitter antics he's always used as a first response, and the narrow-minded ultra-partisanship us-vs-them two-party mentality that goes nowhere except down the drain of division, not unity.

We'll have to just disagree, because I don't believe he could have done anything smoothly. His only option, to appease those who refused to accept the results, the reality of the very democratic process they claim to hold dear, would have been to reverse course and give them everything they wanted

I don't think it's worth worrying about. There's nothing more transient than fashion trends. They come and go faster than anything. One minute something will be the rage, and then six months later no one ever remembers it.
