After Beyonce's Loss, Grammys Respond to Critics…

Join the Academy and Be the Change You Want to See.

Beyonce's sister, Solange Knowles, openly complained that the Academy wasn't recognizing black artists.

Really?

This years five most nominated artists were, Kanye West, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Drake and Chance the Rapper.

From the article:

Indeed, "most of the people complaining are *beep* who don't vote!" says artist-producer Terrace Martin, a 2017 nominee (for best R&B album) and a Grammy voter. "When I go to Recording Academy events, I'm the only one there with tattoos on my neck. I'm trying to get my friends to vote. Everybody acts like they don't give a *beep* about the Grammys - until the Grammys come around."

That's why Beyoncé didn't win.

I've seen YouTube videos where Beyoncé's vocals at the Grammys were isolated, and she sounded pitch perfect.

Adele's Grammy performances sounded warbly, off-key, and she had to restart her performance of George Michael's "Fastlove."

Beyoncé's "Lemonade" sold just over 1 million copies, while Adele's "25" sold over 8 million copies.

With that kind of disparity, the members of the Academy have to make their voice heard in order to pull off the upset.

The Grammys are not relevant to me.

I don't care if Beyonce got an award or not.

Me neither.

I just don't like seeing the race card played.

Do you live in America?

Because you can't expect common regular people to not 'play the race card' when they see it done by the media every day.

When the news media in America reports a crime and doesn't feel the need to report the color of the persons skin then maybe the common people won't filter everything through a racial lens.

Re: After Beyonce's Loss, Grammys Respond to Critics…

Do grammys go to the artist who sells the most?

Re: After Beyonce's Loss, Grammys Respond to Critics…

That's pretty pathetic when their identity politics crowd, who just calls everything racist everyday and look at everything through group and racial identities, even starts crying racism because you don't win an award?

Oh, I'm sorry, is Beyoncé the only singer these days? I was under the impression there were tons of talented singer/songwriters out there. But of course to the race whiners, only the black singer is supposed to win. If she doesn't than it must be "racism".

It makes it hard to address REAL racism issues when people just scream racism about EVERYTHING.

Lamar Jackson for Heisman!

Re: After Beyonce's Loss, Grammys Respond to Critics…

Her music is that pounding pop crap. It's garbage andit's simple minded and it all sounds the same. Why are people acting like she's Jeff Tweedy all of a sudden?

Re: After Beyonce's Loss, Grammys Respond to Critics…

I don't think it's so much racism as just a lack of diversity in who is voting. If the people making these decisions are mostly white men in their 50's and 60's I can see why they'd pick Adele over Beyonce.

I think Beyonce is a great entertainer but I've never really thought her music was that special. However, Lemonade really reached me in a way that nothing she's done before has. It really is a complete album, which is something I feel you don't hear that much these days. It's not just a collection of singles or a couple of good songs surrounded by filler tracks. It's really emotional and well conceived. It was my favorite album of 2016, which surprised me. And I think it's a better album overall than Adele's. I guess we'll see if it stands the test of time.

I'm out of the loop as I haven't heard either album.

Interesting insights.

Beyoncé has obviously hit a point in her career where she can express more personal views in her music, as opposed to making sure there are enough top forty hits on the album.

Albums, for the most part, used to have a theme that ran through them. That theme was usually blatantly explained by the title of the album. You used to have to turn albums over, and the leading track on side two was usually one of the stronger songs. When that vinyl was converted to DVD, the middle of the disc never dragged.

Below is an article about albums Rolling Stone magazine famously panned.

Awards shows....I'm always reminded of the seen in Mommy Dearest where they are all around the radio or tv or whatever and then Joan Crawford wins...goes outside to meet the press and lavish praise and affection on each other.

Then she beats her kid senseless the next day.

Good times, good times.

Re: After Beyonce's Loss, Grammys Respond to Critics…

Blacks won't be happy unless they have everything..Everything is racist if they don't win or own it..Talk about *beep* Entitlement. No race acts more entitled than these people.

Re: After Beyonce's Loss, Grammys Respond to Critics…

20% of all Grammy "Album of the Year" winners have been black, blacks are 12% of the population. It's been totally fair.

Re: After Beyonce's Loss, Grammys Respond to Critics…

Anyone who cares about this is part of the problem. This obsession with pop culture bull$hit is one of the main reasons a despicable buffoon like Trump ended up in the White House. If you do care about this, please kill yourself for the good of the country. Thanks.

Don't fear Muslims, fear Trump voters.

Re: After Beyonce's Loss, Grammys Respond to Critics…

What a bunch of BS. Blacks got nominated for many awards and had R&B, Rap, and Urban awards. How many more do they want?! Like the whining about the Oscars and the slew of blacks nominated this year, I guess Beyoncé can put out a piss poor album and win next year.

You may be right, I might be crazy, but it just may be a lunatic you are looking for!
