The Last of Us : Dear Naughty Dog

Dear Naughty Dog

I loved this game to death. I still don't see exactly why it should be adapted to film, it stands as a story on its own. If people want to be a part of that without having to play the game, there are avenues to explore there, but it's up to the individual to explore them.

But on this, I'm not unwilling to compromise.

I had an idea a while ago, and I know Druckman probably isn't reading this --I hope he is-- but maybe leaving it here will get the word out:

If you're going to make a TLOU film, you should re-render the cutscenes, and new bits that tie them together in order to replace the gameplay. This way you could keep Troy and Ashley while preserving the story's integrity.

This is a really unique and rich story, and it doesn't deserve the death knoll that is a live-action adaptation.

Re: Dear Naughty Dog

I think they could make a film that is set in the same TLOU universe and has the same feeling, but does not need to be a direct adaptation of the game. Beyond that they also need to make one or more games set in the same universe at different times, or certainly with different characters.

Re: Dear Naughty Dog

"The Last of Us" is one of my all-time favorite video games and I can thoroughly understand of as to why most individuals would be apprehensive of a movie adaptation of something that is so cinematic in its own right. However, I believe that the right approach would be to have a talented cast and crew who care of what they are doing and are wanting to make the best adaptation possible that would be willing to end what is called the "video game curse." As highly unlikely as it might be, I am strongly outspoken of the fact that I believe that they need to have Paul Thomas Anderson directing from a screenplay co-written by himself and Neil Druckmann as they both produce alongside Sam Raimi with Emmanuel Lubezki assigned as the Director of Photography.
