Elaine Paige : It's a shame that this woman isn't better known

It's a shame that this woman isn't better known

Elaine Paige is a powerhouse singer and an unstoppable stage presence, yet she gets little attention for her contributions to musical theater. She originated the role of Eva Peron in "Evita", although many people first think of Patti LuPone in that role. She had roles in classics like "Sunset Boulevard" and "Cats", and she has recorded numerous h 5b4 it records. I know she gets recognition from her fans and critics, who seem never to tire of hailing her theater roles, and of course she has won Olivier Awards for her performances. She's far from what one would call a "failure", but it seems that she's often overshadowed by many other women, who also play the same roles she played in London and on Broadway. Does this bother anyone else?

It bothers me as well, she's certainly a gem and is very very talented.

I think a little phenomena known as Susan Boyles has fixed Elaine Paige's obscurity problem. As I look at Ms. Paige's homepage it states STARmeter: Up 685% in popularity this week.

Can't beat that with a stick.

I noticed that people were talking more and more about Ms. Paige since Susan Boyle's triumphant appearance on "Britain's Got Talent." That's nice. I hope these two women get to record something together.

Good idea, Mickorola.

According to blogs, looks like the idea has been kicked around a bit.
