Politics : OT: Rewatched Mad Max, Fury Road (2015)

Are you guys serious that this was the best film of 2015?

I was not feeling it at all even after the second viewing.

Personally I'd rather have rewatched the new Ghostbusters

No, it was how a blockbuster and a reboot should be done. As for being best film of 2015, that's because there hasn't been sh!t for good movies in the last 15 years.

Give it a try sometime. It's one of those instances, like Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind, where the official trailer is worse than the actual movie.

i mean, it's a ghostbusters remake film, not gone with the wind or lawrence of arabia. :)

it was meant to be silly and entertaining and i found it silly and was entertained.

I agree. It took the original 2 Ghostbusters' occasional moments of silliness and amplified it by about 100x with a different comedic touch.

Personally I didn't find it to be as good as the first two, but I'm glad they made it and am a proud owner of the Blu Ray extended cut with 15 minutes of extra footage. That 15 minutes actually fixes a minor plot hole and quite frankly should have never been cut out. It makes the movie even better IMO.

I think in a perfect world, the plot of the 2016 Ghostbusters would have been the plot of Ghostbusters 2.

Then had the Vigo/slime plot in the 2016 Ghostbusters.

Lel. I wouldn't go that far. I thought Fury Road was a decent movie but not amazing by any means. I never understood all the praise it got either.

I am easily amused and Ghostbusters (2016) amused me. :)

i was watching the guy on the chariot with the flames bursting to either side of him and was thinking - what a colossal waste of fuel in a post apocalyptic world.

and what happens if the wind changes? does he get set on fire?

Passed the time well enough, but I won't watch it again.

I liked it, but I thought it was overrated. Hardy was no Mel Gibson, the film was too-frenetically edited, and the pervasive yellow/brown look of the film made the whole thing look phony.

I rated a 7/10.

how many Oscar nominated flick ARE re-watchable? not many i'd say. they're almost always incredibly slow, too sacarin, or too brutal. there's a very specific type of film that gets nominated, y'know, Oscar bait. you'll virtually never find a comedy, or other re-watchable types of flicks in the mix. i'd say that mad max was more re-watchable than anything in recent memory that was Oscar nominated. was it perfect? no. am I gonna watch it a hundred time? no. but it was a breath of fresh air to get away from ridiculously serious and self-important Oscar winners for a change and see something win that actually has mass-appeal.

Where did you get those clothes, the toilet store?

Best? Who really knows, but I will say that I have watched 5 times, and will likely watch another 5 times something that rewatchable, is pretty damn good!

I've seen it four or five times as well and I'm looking forward to seeing it again. The list of movies I can rewatch like that without getting bored is slim, so it definitely left an impression on me.

I think you really have to have an appreciation for production in order to see why it's so special. The amazing stunts, striking cinematography, tight and efficient pacing, staging and script, and just a real sense of artistic effort injected into the action makes it, for me, a modern masterpiece.

By way of appreciation, I appreciated this one more. :)

That movie was terrible, and mainly BECAUSE the director got so personally involved in the marketing. Had he just let the movie do it's thing, it would have received very different praise.

No film is the best of 2015. I thought Fury Road was awesome though. I was expecting a cash grab but I thought it was awesome from start to finish. Didn't see that coming at all.
