Elizabeth Olsen : How is her acting?

Re: How is her acting?

I think she's quite the lovely actress. Still fresh but you can tell she's dedicated to her craft and works hard. I thought she was -great- in Liberal Arts though. I've seen all her films but one.

I am you and what I see is me.

Re: How is her acting?

She's my favorite of the current young actresses I think. Even in roles where she doesn't have much to do she still shines(Silent Hill & Peace, Love, & Misunderstanding) Loved her in Liberal Arts and her performance is MMMM was freakin incredible. I cannot explain just how great she was in that. Really hope she makes it big or at least receives awards attention so she'll be cast in even better movies.

Re: How is her acting?

She has presence no question. After some varied roles it will be easier to see where things are but as it stands now I think she has an unusual charisma which results in a confident actor.

Re: How is her acting?

Elizabeth is at a completely different level than her sisters, at least in regards to acting ability. In short, Elizabeth is a great actress and her older sisters cannot act, period. In all honesty, I expect Elizabeth will go on to have a very successful career in Hollywood. Her acting ability just gets better and better with each passing role. She is just a great actress, with a lot of potential. her sisters are.....were a passing fad.

Still Shooting With Film!

Re: How is her acting?

Can't say for certain, since I only seen her in Silent House which had terrible screenplay and I felt like she was misused in that roll.

She was solid tho, there are few parts that made me rise eyebrow, but can't be sure if she was directed that way or it was her own choice. Overall she was descent and I think she has good potential. She definitively has talents, it's up to working experience to make her great.

She's very cute and nice to look at, natural looking (not supermodel-turned-actress-type) which is a big plus for me.

Re: How is her acting?

I read through a few of these replies, no one seemed able to answer to her acting ability. Having seen her in Martha Macy May Marlene, Oldboy and the Silent House, I'd rate her as being a very capable actress who has been given very little roles that take full advantage of her ability. Oldboy, while a mediocre movie she didn't have a large role in it but she was fine. Silent House was, in my opinion, a very well done remake and she carried the movie very well, and Martha Macy May Marlene being her best role.

Re: How is her acting?

I hope that you've seen at least one of her movies by now. You could easily answer this question yourself by watching one of her movies.

Re: How is her acting?

I think she's a great actress. She has a knack for playing vulnerable characters.

Re: How is her acting?

I haven't yet had the pleasure of viewing "Martha Marcy May Marlene," however I've watched a milieu of her other work. "Red Lights" is one of my favorite movies of all time, and though she only had a small role in the film, compared to the likes of Cillian Murphy and Sigourney Weaver, she still did well. In "Liberal Arts," I thought she carried the film on her back; yes the protagonist is a guy stuck with the conundrum of whether or not he will take a young 18-y/o girl's virginity, but Elizabeth really stole the show.

But if you want to see her at her all-star, all-time best, check out her film "Silent House." Her acting is spot on. I actually believed that she was enduring this situational agony she was going through, which was actually several different things all happening simultaneously; I'm referring to the scene where she's hiding under the table, grinding her eyes shut, and cringing from the ghosts that are walking around the table (yes the film's cover photo). It was a very experimental movie, filmed to appear as one ongoing shot, which was actually filmed in 10-minute intervals so everyone could take breaks and rest, but the story was also very artistic and new, about trauma and how the mind can(not) handle it. I genuinely felt like she was really going through the crap going on in the story, so it just sucks you in. Unless you've already seen the film, like me you'll make many assumptions about what's really going on until the credits roll.

She was good in "Oldboy" as well; already having viewed the original "Oldboy," I knew she knew what she was getting herself into. Won't spoil that whacked-out depraved ending for all of you, but clearly she had zero qualms about tackling a role that controversial. She does nudity in this one, but it's not tasteless; it's very difficult to pull off a believable sex scene with the actors dressed.

Aware that she is a sister of the Olsen Twins, it's interesting to see that she got to the point in her career she's at now due to her own acting talent, and not due to the fact that she's their sister. It says something about an actor/actress that holds their own despite their family connections, like Julia Louis-Dreyfus for instance who comes from really old money.

Re: How is her acting?

Honestly, she was one of the bright spots in Godzilla.

Re: How is her acting?

Yeah I agree. She was very good in Godzilla.

Re: How is her acting?

jfdumoulin; I was pleasantly surprised by her acting in Godzilla. Granted, any cute actress could have played this part as this wasn't a meaty role, but at least she didn't stink up the place.

Re: How is her acting?

She's incredible in MMMM.

Come at the king, you best not miss.

Re: How is her acting?

I know what acting looks like, and hers is pretty damn good.

Re: How is her acting?

Her acting is average.

Re: How is her acting?

Only if you have a pretty peculiar idea of "average."

The average actress in her age range certainly hasn't given a performance like hers in Martha, Marcy, May Marlene.

Re: How is her acting?

I like her style. She seems natural. People should just stop comparing her with her siblings. The twins have made it in a different industry and acting is just not their best skill.

Re: How is her acting?

She´s nothing to write home about...
She uses this very passive vocal fry fry voice kind of acting...
