Jane the Virgin : Gina in the last scene

Sorry, but was it just me who burst out laughing? That scene did not register with me at all, way too OTT and didn't hit the right notes to qualify as emotionally devastating.
Not to nention, who tells someone over the phone that ther husband died?? Wouldn't they bring them into the hospital?

I know Gina was trying to go big but yeaaaah that did not work.

OMG! I thought I was the only one. At first I was expecting it to be a false narrative, but when she hit the floor with the high school drama class theatrics I lost it cryingfrom laughter. So bad. I wonder if she was told to go that route or if that was something she chose to do herself?

I thought it was sad, especially when she screamed.

I don't think there is a right way to grieve so I'm giving her a pass. Everyone grieves differently

Lmao thank you! I was wondering the same thing, like was Gina trying to try something different or was this the direction they gave her? It just didn't work for me. Loud crying works with a great actor but this was one moment where it felt off.

I also found it hard to believe they would tell her he was dead over the phone. But I thought her reaction was spot-on. Not many people would remain calm and collected after being told the love of their life had just passed away completely unexpectedly.

Idk I think some people would take in the news with shock and denial? And then once they saw the body, they'd break down and cry. That's my experience. But the second she heard it, she was gone. No denial or her brain just not processing, just straight to loud sobs. I wish it had happened in a hospital so I could find her reaction more believable.

I think Meredith from Greys would be the initial reaction I was expecting but yeah, not everyone reacts the same way. Jane's reaction was just wayyy too OTT to register w me.

I think it's a valid interpretation. When I was told my dad died, I just went straight to sobbing. It hits you like a truck. But it was a doctor telling me at a hospital, so a phone call is different. Though either really paranoid people (or rightfully fearful, hah) would think the call is untrue, I feel, and merit immediate denial. Just shock is when you find out a celebrity died.

But yeah, I had seen my dad's co-workers teary-eyed at the hospital when inside but before I could process or put together what happened (I was just told my dad was at the hospital), the doctor quickly swooped in and let me know what happened.

When I saw her cry, I was like, "That's a real cry." It's ugly, loud, overwhelming. I felt it was appropriate. None of that Demi Moore single tear stuff, hah.

I thought her reaction was dead on (no pun intended). It was the most hard-hitting, close to home reaction I've ever seen on anyone in a tv series who's lost someone. I've lost a few loved ones and it always hits me the same way. Everyone is different, I guess. I lose myself. I feel like it's an out of body experience and I just bawl. That was exactly what Jane did. It was perfect.

7 years ago I was told through the phone that someone very close to me died suddenly and I reacted very similarly to how Jane did on the show. Very spot on acting for the situation.

I threw my house phone on the ground when I found out my friend died.

She did well, I almost cried. It reminded me of how my mother and aunt reacted when my grandmother passed away. That was a real reaction. Especially for losing her newlywed husband who she was very much in love with.

I sobbed like a little baby because of her reaction. That was very realistic to me, that is kind of how I reacted when I found out my mother had passed away. I could empathize with her at that moment.

I cried too. Janes' reaction was so raw and real. It hit deep. I know it's just a tv show but this happens in real life. So it hits hard.
