Christopher Nolan : What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

What film are you hoping he'd do next? I'm not the biggest Akira fan so I don't care whether he does that or not, but personally would like him to do another original movie, or go and do a Western.

The only thing I do not take seriously, boy, is you.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

Futuristic sci-fi.

Or a Bond film.

Nolan, I love you forever!

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

^^ This

Bond trilogy would be too much to ask, but would be an absolute treat.

After the balls up that followed Casino Royale, I'd like to see Nolan come in and repair the damage.

I thought Skyfall was meh...okay, and Spectre definitely better but not by much, so I don't think either of them can repair the damage done by Quantum of Solace.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

I think that his first film "The Following" is really interesting. I'd love to see him do something small scale along those lines - or something like " 5b4 The Prestige".

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

Something smaller scale. Do a neo noir crime In the style of collateral, Nightcrawler, etc. And tap into his brothers connections to smaller scale actors like Amy Acker, Sarah Shahi, Jim Caviezel, Jimmi Simpson, James Marsden, etc. A really good small scale crime thriller from him would be incredible and finally get him an Oscar

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

Nolan said that he'll make blockbusters until his IMAX cameras does not break up and his hands is able to write scripts.
Of course he didn't say it like that, but he said numerous times that he wants to make big movies as far as gets the chance to.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

Mr. Hughes. He said it's the best thing he's ever written.

If he makes it immediately after Dunkirk it will have been 14+ years since The Aviator came out, and I'm pretty sure Nolan's project and Rules Don't Apply will have very little in common.

I think it would be the right time to do it. I hope.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

One of the best things he's even writter, not the best. It's on Nolan's IMDb trivia page.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

I was referring to a quote by Nolan regarding his Hughes project, taken from an interview with The Daily Beast just prior to Interstellar's release:

"I was definitely like, *beep*! I think it’s the best script I’ve ever written, and I had a really wonderful experience writing it. Yeah, it was a frustrating experience that the other movie got going. Will I revisit it? I have no idea. I really don’t think about what I’m going to do next until I’m completely finished, and for the next couple of weeks I’m still all about Interstellar. I wouldn’t necessarily rule it out, but I wrote it a long time ago."

Just for fun, he also had this to say about doing Bond in the interview:

"I love James Bond and I’ve talked with the producers over the years, but nothing’s ever worked out. They do a great job—they don’t need me right now, and Sam [Mendes] is an extraordinary talent. I will absolutely be first in line to see the next Bond film as I have been for all of them."

You have to assume both will at least be on his mind following Dunkirk. Would love to see either one.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

I'm really wondering what can it be, how good can it be, because I always thought of Inception as Nolan's best screenplay. I'm reading it right now and simply amazed by just how perfect it is both from technical and artistical sides. And if he says that Howard Hughes is better...

Yes, I also would be glad to see both of them. But I think that with every year Hughes is more and more unlikely to be realized into film. Among other reasons, the main one probably is Jim Carrey. Nolan have seen him originally portaying the character is his film, and Jim now is not exactly what he was 13 years ago. So among those two, I see James Bond as more likely opportunity to come true.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

Inception is my favorite film. That's why I find the Mr. Hughes script so intriguing. Could it actually be better?

I know it is based on the book Citizen Hughes, which is put together through the memos from Hughes' years spent in isolation. It covers everything from his slip into madness to his vast conspiracies, including his relationship with the Nixon administration.

The memos were taken from a heist at one of Hughes' properties, which is also covered in the book. The script could actually be very similar to Inception, a sort of psychological/political/heist thriller.

Damn, I think it could have been great. Unfortunately, you might be right about it being too late to put to film. I'm still holding out hope though.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

A huge Sci-fi again

Hmm

Psychological horror

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

I want to see him do to the James Bond series what he did to Batman.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

Didn't Sam Mendes do that with Skyfall?

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

Mendes was trying to be Nolan at this one, but hardly succeed.

Nolan, I love you forever!

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

I really like Skyfall...

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

I like it too (not love, though). But sometimes it tries too hard to be a Nolan movie.

Nolan, I love you forever!

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

Absolutely. Everything about Skyfall had "Nolan inspired" written all over. Mendes himself admitted to it. However, Im sure Nolan can do it much better.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

How about a lord of the rings (fantasy) style movie. Or maybe a film adaptation of Dante's Inferno (reference to animation).

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

How about a lord of the rings (fantasy) style movie.

Silmarillion? That would be unexpected... But awesome at the same time!

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

As mentioned before, a horror movie will be an awesome next project for Christopher Nolan. I think the industry could use his talent to inject some originality into a worn-out genre that in my opinion has became stale largely due to many remakes and rehash. But whatever movie he would end up making after Dunkirk would be fine for me. :)

"You can't fight her - no one ever got the better of her. Never, never. She was beaten in the end, but it wasn't a man, it wasn't a woman. It was the sea!"

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

Yes, that would be great. Horror genre is one of the most ambitious things Nolan would take on next. He can save the genre once and for all.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

Bring back the cast of Inception for a murder mystery.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

Akira!

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

A Murder Mystery Thriller in the same vain of Se7en or Silence of the Lambs.
ora Spy Espionage Action thriller akin to the first Mission Impossible.

He has already proven himself in Sci-Fi/Fantasy give that a break for now unless he has another incredible Original script like Inception or summin.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

I would want a horror scifi in the same vein as Event Horizon. I think he could really do some great things in that area. I'm sure whatever is next it will be interesting and I'll see it for sure.

Re: What film would you like him to do after Dunkirk?

Dumb And Dumber 3 and Bridget Jones Meets Mother-in-law (whatever it will be).
