Carrie : Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the original
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
the only thing that made it worse was the flying.
seriously, she is not superman.
Reading the paper can really be depressing. Mr. Dithers fired Dagwood again.

Carrie practiced and trained her power to the point where it became advanced.

It seems you have no idea about physics.
If Carrie can move other things with a telekinesis, it AUTOMATICALLY means
that she can also move herself with telekinesis i.e. she can fly.
This is a simple consequence of the laws of physics (Newton's third law).
And the laws of physics work independently from the fact that someone knows
about them or not.

Even if all the people of the world will agree with you nothing will change. The laws of physics work independently from the fact that someone knows them or not. These laws reflect the fundamental properties of our world. And according to Newton's third law if Carrie can move objects with weight greater than her own (she moves cars in the movie), then she can move herself, i.e. is able to fly.
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
but youre forgetting the "she looked like an idiot" factor
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
Nah. The original prom scene is way better. Saying the remake is better would be like saying this rotten apple is better than a fresh apple.
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
I'm only saying that the prom scene itself is better not the entire movie.
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
I think the remake prom scene is terrible. The multiple shots of the blood dumping is totally stupid, the blood is brown, the gym teacher survives, Carrie flies.
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
You do realize that blood does turn slightly brown after a few days, right? Miss Desjardin never died in the novel because Carrie spared her life

Carrie flies.
thank you!
I have some nerd talking to me about the laws of physics!

That "nerd" is right and is using science. Don't be upset because you're stupid.
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
Science now says people can fly?
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
I wish it was longer and had more kills but I thought it was decent. While I dislike the original the prom scene is still pretty effective minus the hose deaths and the split-screen. The remake just needed more gore, less blood-dump shots, a better score, and Carrie not flying.

you dislike the original? my god, you are hopeless-get the hell out of here with your directors cut petition, troll!
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
I have mixed feelings regrding the 2013 prom scene. One of the reasons is, that it doesnt show how Carrie flies away from the place and what happened to certain characters. At least the 1976 version is better regarding that.
Thats why I think an extended cut of the movie is necessary. The petition is at

Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
I have to disagree. I couldnt stand most of the CGI in this movie and could tell the CGI was artificial. At least the original film version was more authentic in terms of the effects that this film version lacked.
Cast AwayIt's like Forrest Gump, but on an island.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
No, it isnt. Maybe it is in some ways more impressive than the original, but in the original version, at least, the prom scene and Carries movements there were clearer and more understandable, especially Carries walk towards the exit door after having set the school on fire and the fate of all the characters. This cannot be seen in the remake.
Thats why an Extended Cut is needed so it can be understood how Carrie was able to fly away from the place that she had locked up and what happened to the characters.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
As for the original I am sick of hearing people try to compare this version to that one! To me the 1976 version is so distorted and full of stiff movements and 70 style acting that I never even thought of it again except in the category of the old bad effects horror! The same goes for the shinning. Just because the old generation love those kind of horrors best doesn't mean the younger generation agree!
By all accounts, Chloe Mortez film beats the 1976 and 2002 Carrie by spades as she captured the rage and anger of Carrie(just watch the part where she screams, throwing everyone back, releasing all the pent up anger)while the 1976 and 2002 version turned her into a gargolyte while she's destroying. Both never capture her rage as this version did!

Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
No, you need to educate yourself because you're sounding like the fool. You must be blind to notice how almost every remake(take the shinning for example)just happens to fall short of the original? Especially if the original was a huge hit in its era and the years following? Mostly because the original introduce a new concept(in this case horror)that no film in its genre had before it. Now as I was saying, I hear people always talking about the old poltergiest and shinning being a still the creepiest horrors but I also see a lot of people surprised that others believe that. Another case is the old bible series ten commandments.
So I decided to do a little research and instantly discovered why. Old movies which were such big hits in their day still dominate the movie ratings because of the huge audience they gathered over the years, ruining any chance of a remake. So i don't really care about hearing of box failures when it comes to remakes as I've realized already why they became failures which has nothing to do with their being "less good" than the original.
There will always be those excuse. The real excuse is that once you fall in love with the first film(older film)you start looking for flaws however slight to pounce on once the remake emerge. Why? Because once you saw the first you start measuring the second by your ideal of what it should be in lined with the first. Lol

Yes. I watch the shinning and poltergiest and both seem so old that they don't show a ounce of true fear. Same with old Carrie

"So, "Mugglefan" is a diehard Chloe fan, with a cache of hard drive pix of the actress that would curl your hair. Some of the pix on Chlomo are photoshopped". Sheesh. Learn to spell

The only "The Shinning" I know of is the parody of "The Shining" that was done in a Halloween episode of "The Simpsons".
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
Which is why Sissy Spacek was nominated for an academy award for this picture while chloe won a saturn award I think? Because this was much better acted.
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the original
sissy spacek 'flies' in the original too. she's walking above the water as the other students are being electrocuted.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
nope
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
I think the prom scene in the original is a lot better. I thought the music was a lot more dramatic and made it seem like a bigger deal. Also the closeups of everyone's facial expressions showed the horror they felt. I think this one was too fast paced and action packed that it's over before you even realize what's going on.
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
Most died in the fire, dummy. The few who died by the hose-well, a fire hose can exert enough to kill
Re: Am I the only one who thinks this prom scene is better than the orig
They're all going to laugh at you = enough said on the subject.

Also, the twins who got trampled and the girl that got whipped by the wires and burnt to death had the most brutal deaths in this movie tbh. I felt that Sissy Spacek was a bit too merciful than in this remake.
