The Mysteries of Laura : I don't understand the hate…

I don't understand the hate…

I just finished watching the first six episodes on Netflix and I was actually surprised to know The Mysteries of Laura received negative reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. I personally believe the show is refreshing when compared to all of the crap that's on television nowadays. Is it groundbreaking? Of course not. Is it entertaining? Hell yeah! Sadly, there's way too many film and television snobs who expect everything to be a masterpiece. The Entertainment Industry is just that. Entertainment. You want something that's artistic and groundbreaking? Go produce a television show that will suit your standards. Until then, please refrain from being a massive thunderc-nt.

Re: I don't understand the hate…

HAHA, absolutely, positively agree 1000%!

BTW, you should trademark *beep* ;-)

Re: I don't understand the hate…

I agree. I think the show is fun to watch.

And while i don't like the changes they made this season, i still find it pretty enjoyable to watch. But i really wish they'd go back to the format of the first season.

Fraaaank. FRANK! Get my jean bin. Susie wants my jeans.
No she doesnt.

Re: I don't understand the hate…

I agree. It is a fun show. It's not meant to be angsty and drama-driven. The theme music should have been their first clue. It's fun, sassy and bouncynot exactly HIll Street Blues.

The cast has really gelled and I'm enjoying it alleven her home messes. Heh.

Re: I don't understand the hate…

i think Debra Messing is really well cast and i like it being more of a light, always-a-happy-ending type show, sort of like Monk, and the 'mysteries' are usually quite entertaining.

there are a few things they could imptove on but over all i think the shoe is absolutely fine!

not every show needs to be an Emmy-contender..

Re: I don't understand the hate…

Actually, some of the shows that have won Emmys have been something I wouldn't turn my TV on for. I watch a show to be entertained, and blood and guts don't entertain me.

Re: I don't understand the hate…

I understand the hate.

There are 80 other shows with the exact same premise/episode structure that have been on the air in the last 5-6 years.

People weren't expecting a masterpiece but I think they were hoping for something a little different. Unfortunately, it's just another spoon-fed PC procedural pile of drivel that litters network television these days.

Re: I don't understand the hate…

They could improve the series if they dropped her cookie cutter boyfriend story arcs. He's to perfect.

Re: I don't understand the hate…

Agreed.

And I don't actually hate the show. (my wife loves it, I find it tolerable)

I'm just saying that I understand someone who "hates" it.

Hate relative to TV standards, I mean.

Re: I don't understand the hate…

I think the show is watchable though not the greatest show on tv.

Re: I don't understand the hate…

I could not agree with you more. This show is my de-stress and relax show after work. The story lines are fun the cast is great and it's just fun and entertaining anyone wanting more should look elsewhere.

Re: I don't understand the hate…

Not everything has to be a masterpiece, nor should it, but if you want a show to get praise and many seasons it has to be at least good and not laughably bad.

A good review of "Inside Out":

Re: I don't understand the hate…

The word hate is a very string word and people should not use it so much. There is too much negativity and you are contributing to it by using that word.

Re: I don't understand the hate…

I like the show. I like it's lightheartedness.

But I think one of its problems has always been they never quite figured out what its tone was supposed to be.

Before it premiered, it was heavily promoted as some kind of comedy. But when it showed up it was more like a standard police procedural with some funny moments, or more silly and/or ridiculous moments. But as the season went on those went away and it became more serious and even more like any other cop show. Except the cop part - the cases - were kind of over the top. Almost like a parody of a cop show.

Then add in all the relationship drama and you have a soap opera.
