House of Cards : Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

Well, it's not so much of a question for Trump supporter, but for everybody here :

If the élections were between Frank and Donald, you would have voted for...

Re: Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

I'm a Trump supporter, but I would probably vote for Underwood. I like Underwood's "You're entitled to nothing" approach. However, I seriously doubt that Underwood would be a Democrat in real life, because the Democrat party is based on bribing the electorate with welfare handouts and sleazy pandering to gain the vote. I'd expect Underwood to run against Trump in the Republican primary, as a Republican.

Re: Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

Wow, it reminds me 'Cthulhu for president: why vote for a lesser evil'

But you're right about the analysis about Underwood. I think they made him a Democrat because making him a Republican in the serie would be overkill.

Re: Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

I think they made him a Democrat to, ironically, stop a series that is entirely about politics from being "political". If he were a republican a bunch of people would complain that it was "liberal propaganda" and boycott. So I guess it was smart, what they did, from a marketing and storytelling standpoint.

Re: Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

Exactly. The repubs complain and whine then accuse dems of being the party that does that. Its obvious they are a version of the Clinton's with the ruthlessness turned up to 100. If they had a character like trump be a serious contender in the show it would look unbelievable same as it is in real life. There is just a lot more idiots and aholes in real life to vote for him.

Re: Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

Right...And Trump didn't do any sleazy, underhanded pandering and lying to get elected. Sure.

I must ask if you believe in The Constitution? See, there's a big part of it that is about how we are one country that works together for the general welfare of all the people, which includes social programs and federal/state spending for the safety, protection, and benefit of all. No, I don't mean we should just hand out money or what have you to anyone and everyone. But I do think that the modern Republican party has forgotten that the common good includes helping those who need a hand up and not allowing an aristocracy/oligarchy to take over the country for the benefit of a few. Heck, we the people state right up front that the "general welfare" is important. Seems many people have devolved to "it's all about me." For example, do you consider all the federal infrastructure projects to be bad because we all pay for them, even though sometimes they might not help you or me specifically? What about Trump and Pence offering Indiana taxpayers' money to a company to keep a small number of jobs in the country for a while? Shouldn't those taxpayers be angry about such corporate welfare? I could go on, but I'd best stop now.

Bottom line: Trump did all that you accuse the Democrats of doing and more in order to get elected. Maybe you should look in the mirror.

Re: Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

Before seeing your post, I chose Underwood and still do.

Re: Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

Not a really valid question. This show appears to be loosely based on the Clintons and their lust for power. But to answer your hypothetical question, Frank would have won. He is a master manipulator while Hillary was a corpse propped up as a presidential candidate.

Re: Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

At least Frank isn't retarded.

Re: Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

@MWallace777...bravo! Thank you for calling a spade a spade. There is zero doubt what one would get with Underwood, and at least he is anything but remotely dumb.:)

Re: Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

At least Trump isn't a murderer.

Re: Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

He's a sexual abuser and likely rapist. So almost as bad?

We know more about Trump's transgressions than we would about Underwood's if he were in real life.

Granted, I forget if the murders were brought up in the last season in the press, but it would all just be hearsay, much like Trump's transgressions.

Re: Frank Underwood or Donad Trump ?

Good question.

Given that I kinda like Trump, and that Underwood is kind of a homicidal *beep* maniac, the answer should be obvious, at least in my eyes - quite frankly, in most people's eyes, because come on, there must be a limit to the Trump hate, somewhere.

HOWEVER... the choice isn't that obvious, BECAUSE as viewers, we're intimate with Underwood, we've been inside his head for years, while we don't know what's in Trump's head, we don't know everything about his past, and a documentary doesn't do miracles.

So, to me, the challenge would be to guess how we would perceive Underwood as a "simple" real life politician we aren't intimate with, or as if he was just a supporter character in someone else's show, forgetting he's played by Kevin Spacey. Would we think : "okay, I'm not sure why, but that one HAS to be a killer" ? ^^
