John Wick : How is it that Wick has NO home security?
Re: How is it that Wick has NO home security?
As unrealistic as this is in the real world, in the world that John Wick lives in, I think it's just general knowledge that NO ONE F#*KS WITH JOHN WICK. After John Leguizamo (chop shop boss) punches the MOB BOSS'S SON, not only is he not scared but he calls the mob boss and tells him WHY he did it. We know from the movie that to get out from under the mob boss, John had to do one last IMPOSSIBLE job which involved a huge body count. John succeeded and earned his freedom. The criminal network in this city (mob bosses, assassins, contract killers, etc) looks to be a strong one who know John either by personal encounter or by reputation. In conclusion, in a city filled with organized crime, John Wick technically should have been the SAFEST man alive because except for little young a-holes like the son, it's general knowledge that NO ONE F#*KS WITH JOHN WICK.

well said
Re: How is it that Wick has NO home security?
Only nitpick is that John Leguizamo DOESN'T call up the mob boss, but when the mob boss calls HIM, all JL has to say is that it was John Wick's carand the mob boss doesn't even argue. Apparently Iosef is the only member of the underworld stupid enough to f#*k with John Wick.
Re: How is it that Wick has NO home security?
He's his own home security.
Re: How is it that Wick has NO home security?
Apparently not
Re: How is it that Wick has NO home security?
He's his own home security. Not to mention, unless you were an idiot you knew who John Wick was so he didn't need to worry about getting robbed.
Re: How is it that Wick has NO home security?
Apparently he did
Re: How is it that Wick has NO home security?
Thanks captain obvious, but that's the PREMISE OF THE MOVIE! You quickly find out that anybody who knows him are stunned by what happened, and terrified about what is to happen. He didn't believe he needed the security because of his past, but yes, as you say apparently he did. He didn't think he needed it though.

A)Allowed those Russians to follow him home or
B)His address is listed in the phone book.
Or my isn't name

Re: How is it that Wick has NO home security?
One trick to being a badass is to never be afraid. Never ever be afraid. I try to do this myself. I rarely lock my doors on both my cars in the driveway and my house. I've got a meth dealer down the street and a dude that likes breaking into cars in the neighborhood. I've seen cops checking garbage cans for drops.
Yet, I am not afraid. It's OK to be scared, I've been scared on many occassions; but never, ever be afraid. A dude not far from me got stabbed in the head by an intruder, but I'm still not afraid.
He's John Wick and he's not afraid.

Re: How is it that Wick has NO home security?
Your question isn't a good question though. If he had a security system, then he wouldn't have gotten jumped and had his dog killed, then we wouldn't have the rest of the movie. Also, how do you know he didn't have a security system that was disabled by Iosef? He seems like a dumb punk, but he's capable enough to be tasked with jobs by his father, so who knows what his skill set actually is, because all we ever see from him is him being cocky, or scared for his life. We never actually see what he is capable of doing because he's being pursued by the scariest person on the planet. It seems unlikely, but I've known some idiots who could do some pretty impressive things.

Very good reply, Steefnesss.
One other issue that the folks who consistently ask this question (I mean, there are at least 6 threads with this question) never consider is his state of mind.
He has been 'out of the game' for a while. He has a wife who he obviously loves(ed) very much. He is so distraught that he isn't even mingling with the guests at his house after the funeral. When he gets the dog, he reads the letter and the final words were "until we meet again" and he cries. Dog pops out and he now has something to love and hopefully use to recover. He now has to do so much just to care for the dog (feed, walk, pick up after, etc) that the LAST thing he is thinking about is someone breaking in. Even when the dog wakes up, his ONLY thought is to let it go to the bathroom. Sound like someone who would consistently put on an alarm for his door? Don't think so.
Lastly, The poster above reminded folks that the guys who broke in weren't some local kids who break into cars to grab a radio. They were part of a big organized crime unit that was very used to committing many crimes. Breaking into a house would be fairly easy for them.

@OP:
I was thinking the exact same thing. Here's this legendary assassin, who, especially after the first attack, does NOTHING to secure his own home. WTH?
"Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier 'n puttin' it back in." Will Rogers
