Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Alec Peters of Star Trek: Axanar found out about it three weeks ago.

A few websites, including Wikipedia, are reporting his death, but a few people are doubting it. No doubt we'll see some official notice soon.

Sorry to hear this. I loved him in both BSG series. I got to meet him in 2006 and he was very friendly. It is a sad day for the sci-fi community.

John Hurt from "Elephant Man" just Died of it, Too. A LOT of Celebrities (and many ordinary folk) are getting it. Smoking increases the risk but a lot of times the cause isn't known.

Look at all the movies he was scheduled to act in.I just wonder what will happen there.I didn't recall the name but did remember his handsome face.

This is extremely sad news. It is very hard to believe this warm and wonderful man is gone. He loved interacting with his fans and always took the time to chat, take a picture, etc. RIP Richard, you will be dearly missed :(

What's sad is thinking just because someone is warm and wonderful they are immune to death lololololol. Death doesn't care if you're wonderful. Death is a fee you pay for the life you have been given. There are no free lunches.

I loved the original Battlestar when I was a kid. RIP Richard Hatch.

.Great guy. I know he was 71 but if you compare pics from 2014 and sept. 2016 he really aged considerably. Now we know why. Pancreatic cancer ravages the body. Another great sci-fi personality gone. :(
