Joseph Gordon-Levitt : Oscar chances for "The Walk"

Oscar chances for "The Walk"

I haven't seen the film, but when I first saw the trailer, I thought he would be a shoo-in for a Best Actor nod. Any thoughts from those who saw the film?

Re: Oscar chances for 'The Walk'

While I think he'll eventually get that nod, this performance wasn't his best. He was good, just not quite that good.

Re: Oscar chances for 'The Walk'

Thanks! Like you, I am confident he will get his chance soon. Weird though that he is-- without question--one of the best actors in his age group, and yet it's the terrible Jonah Hill who has received TWO Oscar nods.

Re: Oscar chances for 'The Walk'

Yeah he is and it's just a matter of time at this point. Even James Franco has had an Oscar nod, but not JGL

Re: Oscar chances for 'The Walk'

I love Joe Levitt and his movies but I haven't really seen a performance of his that really made me go "WOW." He's got a lot of charisma and he's a very capable leading man, but he hasn't yet given that wow performance.

Re: Oscar chances for 'The Walk'

I thought he should've at least received an Oscar nomination for 50/50. His performance was really heart-breaking, gut-wrenching, and bittersweet. Definitely one of his best movies!

Re: Oscar chances for 'The Walk'

He was more than worthy of a nomination in Mysterious Skin, but I wouldn't be surprised if the content of the film scared people off.

Re: Oscar chances for "The Walk"

No, I don't think he'll be nominated. It was a good movie but not Oscar-worthy. Joseph is a great actor but I don't think he cares about Oscars or receiving critical recognition. He spends most of his time on HitRecord instead of looking for his next dramatic role LOL. It's fine and I don't think actors should be concerned about their Oscar chances when they're looking for their next project.
