Ernest Dickerson. He NAILED the dark, gritty, violent tone of Gotham city and its psychotic gallery of characters with his take on inner city New York in Juice, I'd LOVE to see him bring that kind of edge to Batman.

Yes, he made King Lear after all. However the studio would have to give him a relatively free hand and the majority of people would probably hate it.

He understands perfectly well iconic characters which have a double life or heroes who seem like they super powers but they don't. With the great job he did with Zorro and two Bond flicks i think he is the perfect guy for this job.

As he's been called many times, I'm fairly certain Campbell is a "studio" director, where he may be great at managing things on set but the vision that ends up on the screen is not really his doing, but the producers'. With that in mind, DC seems like it has some pretty awful producers managing things, so yeah, he'd probably be a bad choice.

Reeves seems like a conventionally logical choice: savvy with big FX budgets, careful with his set-pieces overall technically acute and routinely somber with dramatic realism.
But it appears he has his hands full with the Planet of the Apes franchise, where stepping into the DCEU might be too much. Moreover, I'd maybe opt for someone just as competent but a little more tonally neutral; not as dry and lethargic. Hows about Rupert Wyatt or Christopher McQuarrie?

Rumours are that its been described as the Raid/Die Hard in Arkham Asylum kind if like the game of the same name. Since the warehouse fight scene was well received in BvS, they intend to make an action film with that kind of action.

Gareth Evans would be great. I don't know if he would do Hollywood though. I doubt McTiernan would do it since he ranted against superhero movies some time ago.

David Fincher would be my top dream choice . He would make it extra dark/gritty and bring in Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross to do a great score. Plus he worked well with Affleck on Gone Girl. Probably would never happen but a boy can dream right?
