Brett Favre : If a statistic for stupid plays existed, Farve would be the all-time…
Re: If a statistic for stupid plays existed, Farve would be the all-time…
I agree with you theredespite all his positive records, he did seem to have a penchant for throwing the big interception at the wrong time. His attitude may float in that media mecca of the universe, Green Bay, Wisconsin, but it won't in New York.

Yes Brett did make some bonehead plays at times but a lot of those INT's can be put down to his wide receivers not catching the ball when they should have.
He's always had a habit of trying too many times to make the big play though.

I'd have to add that it didn't help having crap coaches like Rhodes and Sherman putting him in very bad situations either.

That's true.
Also i've always felt that Favre was the type of player who needed to be coached well, to be reinged in a bit. I think that's the reason he was a better player under Holmgren and a better player last year under McCarthy.

In week 1 of the 2008 season, Farve threw a dying duck into the end-zone which, unbelievably, was caught for a Jets touchdown. He was very, very lucky with that terrible throw. As luck would have it, it also ended-up being the difference in the Jets winning the game.
In week 2, Farve was up to his old antics by making an ill-advised and horribly thrown pass completion to the Patriots. It was just an incredibly stupid play (typically Farve).
IMO, the Jets are lucky to be 1-1 at this point in the season. They could easily be 0-2 right now. If Farve's dying duck in week 1 had been slightly longer or shorter, the Dolphins would likely have made an interception and the game may very well have had a different outcome.

I agree with RexFeral that Favre threw up a dying duck, something he does quite a bit and can't be blamed on his receivers as suggested by Old Snakegood thing they were playing Miami at the time and the pass was completed for a touchdown. But he was right about one thing. Favre does need to be reigned in by a strong coach and he did mention Mike Holmgren but he didn't mention that some of Holmgren's assistants included future head coaches Andy Reid, Jon Gruden, Steve Mariucci, and Marty Mornhigweg. Another post alluded to the fact that Green Bay had rabid fans and I never said it doesn't. I live 45 miles from another media mecca, Salt Lake City and believe me, you'd think the sun rises and sets around the Utah Jazz, the o1ebcnly game in town like the Packers are in Green Bay. How many home games do they play on Sunday? Not manyin a state dominated by one religion, Salt Lake could never have an NFL or MLB franchise. Did you ever notice that when BYU is in the NCAA basketball tournament, they're never scheduled to play in the Friday-Sunday games?
Re: If a statistic for stupid plays existed, Farve would be the all-time…
Favre does need a good strong coach. He always beleives he can make the play to win the game. I admire that about him but it would also scare me as a coach!
Re: If a statistic for stupid plays existed, Farve would be the all-time
He would have that record maybe but he would have the record for most incredible plays to exist. Last year against the Broncos in overtime the first play the packers run a play action and Favre finds Jennings for a touchdown. 6 touchdowns this season in one game.
