Now over 5000 signatures

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

What happens when you reach the petition goal?

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Don't know; didn't start it…assume it'll be sent to them.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

I was wondering that myself.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Originally the petition goal was 1000, but if the petition go above that the signatures still count.

I've changed it so it's now goal at 5000 instead, but again if 15000 people want to sign 15000 signatures will be listed.

There's nothing that automatically happens when the goal is reached, but it's something to say 'hey Col needham' I got 5000 people signing this petition to keep the boards, which I plan to do on his twitter (just have to get a twitter first lol)

But if everyone spreads and shares this petition the numbers will add up, and in the end this is a a numbers game.

We don't know if it will work, but it can't hurt.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Lets keep it going.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Good luck. I worry that amazon won't listen though, but it's good to try.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

No idea, but the essence is there

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Choke yourself, turd. On his worst day, he's worth 10,000 of a worthless POS like you

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

^^ Worthless POS

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Only obvious reason is that you're constantly thinking about it, Old Turd. Fck yourself.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Not angry at all, turd. Just stating facts.

And if you actually think anyone except your sock Stevie doesn't think you're a worthless POS troll, you're utterly delusional. Just sayin'

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Once again, you;re the only one bringing up child porn. But then what else could be expected of a convicted gay pedophile? You are one worthless turd.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Funny how you're the only one who keeps bringing up gay porn…it must be constantly on your mind. But of course we all knew you were a POS pedo anyway…

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Sign me up.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Yeah, that's going to work.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Likely it won't, but it certainly can;t hurt…at least worth a shot

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Well considering 250 million people use Imdb on a daily basis, 2000 signatures is a drop in the ocean.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

It seem to confirm (not sure why they would lie about it) that it is a insignificant amount of the user that go on message board page.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

It's true. The number of people leaving or ignoring message boards has been increasing because they are in a terrible state.
Other film lovers that I've spoken to, friends and members of the BFI Southbank in London, have said that though they use Imdb regularly, wouldn't go anywhere forums like this one or the film message boards to discuss films. Most prefer to discuss films with real people. I seem to be the exception, but the boards are going so that's the end of that.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

I signed it, but I'm afraid it won't make much a difference.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

There's always hope, Doc, but yeah, greed usually wins.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

I signed and here is my comment:

You are simply wrong - or outright dissembling - when you suggest that discussion is going on at Facebook and Twitter that outweighs your forums. First, social media is not set up for real "discussion" and most people who frequent them aren't there for that reason; second, many of us don't use social media for a variety of reasons. If you want to cast us off that's your business of course, but I am not the only person who spent a significant amount of money on Amazon as a direct consequence of the significant time I spent on IMDb. I have had mixed feelings about the obvious and utter contempt Amazon has had for it's own forum users and IMDb, and it's focus on nothing but the bottom line always (is this REALLY what our bright future was supposed to be? Can't Mr. Bezos et al foresee a world where there is something in addition to profit that's valuable?) - but I have continued to buy from Amazon because of the generally good service and the enormous variety. I'm starting to reconsider that now and I know thousands - maybe tens of thousands - are as well.

None of this probably matters a hill of beans to you guys, because you don't care where the "hill of beans' quote even comes from anymore, and it's a hill of cash that is all that matters to you. Sad that supposed liberals are now fully content to live in the world that Ayn Rand promised. Goodbye.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Well said

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Well said and I agree. The ways neoliberalism is going are scary and over the past years it's been reaching more and more into the internet. I would be lying if I said I had much hope in truly reversing this trend (without some major catastrophe) but hope and action is all we've got.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Well said good sir.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Be sure to make this clear to iMDB on Twitter/Facebook. Convincing them of the financial benefits of keeping the boards is the only realistic chance we have of saving them.

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Consider it signed, old bean!

Re: Now over 2000 signatures

Thanks, Steve. Doubt it'll convince them, but who knows?

Re: Now over 3000 signatures

I doubt it will make any impact but for what it's worth, signed it!

Re: Now over 3000 signatures

I already signed
Lets hope this works but i doubt it, otherwise we would be having a new announcement that they changed their minds.

Re: Now over 3000 signatures

Thanks for starting this petition. There is no guarantee that this will save IMDB's message boards, but it definitely couldn't hurt. And I promise you that this isn't going unnoticed.

Re: Now over 3000 signatures

Don't know who started it; I[m just trying to spread the word about it

Re: Now over 3000 signatures

Oh dear how sad. Just let it go. These boards are full of sh-t and so are you. I'm still not convinced that you are not Xfiles. Wanker.

Re: Now over 3000 signatures

And I was defending you…go fck yourself, ace. And take your sock XFiles with you, asswipe

Re: Now over 3000 signatures

Signed it yesterday. Not optimistic about its chances of changing anything, but why go down without a fight?

Re: Now over 3000 signatures

exactly

Re: Now over 4000 signatures

We will get to 5000 by later today it looks like.

Re: Now over 4000 signatures

Signed it, cheers. He's how to really affect change though…

What they haven't considered is the financial cost of closing the boards - if we raise enough hell on Facebook/Twitter (and all the other places they'd like us to migrate to where we're more vulnerable to Amazon's targeted advertising) the negative publicity they receive will eventually outweigh the miniscule savings made by closing the boards.

So go forth and make your thoughts known on iMDB's Facebook page, on their Twitter, anywhere Amazon or iMDB are being discussed. Punish them for doing this, but be sure to reward them if they keep/reopen the boards. Carrot and stick. Hurting them financially, by smearing their brand if they close the boards, is the only play we have left.

Re: Now over 4000 signatures

And be clever and/or thoughtful when posting if possible, not just attack ad hominem. Get those reading on your side.

Re: Now over 4000 signatures

Yep, give em tough love. Hate-posting will only encourage them to shut the boards, there should be a positive charge throughout the disciplining.

Re: Now over 4000 signatures

Signed. I still wanna PM people or look on film pages boards, despite not posting anymore.

Re: Now over 5000 signatures

FWIW

Re: Now over 5000 signatures

I signed. I don't think it'll do much, but it's worth a try.
