White Bird in a Blizzard : Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

This movie is slow Not a bad plot could have been much better. Why do all these new movies have to say the F word over and over so much? It doesn't add to the movie and I get tired of hearing it.

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

What the *beep*!? Was this a good *beep* Movie or was it?! *beep*!!

" Why do all these new movies have to say the F word over and over so much? "

Because it is a lazy substitute for actual good, thoughtful writing. It has become a script writer's crutch.

Someone said it best:
"Profanity is the product of an absent mind".

I'm realizing that is very true with some of these writers.

Someone else said it better:
The sort of twee person who thinks swearing is in any way a sign of a lack of education or a lack of verbal interest is just a *beep* lunatic.

Hmm, I think you missed the 80s/90s in the movie area. It isn't new at all.

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

Your right can't they think of anything else but the f word.

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

It annoyed me also

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

People who do it too much are immature rude, jerks

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

I definitely noticed it a lot in relation to Kat's interactions with her mother - it was jarring as I'd have never considered speaking to my parents this way when I was Kat's age, or now. But I suppose this sort of attitude towards a parent is indicative of a lack of respect, which is how it came across, and showed a complete breakdown in their relationship.

"Please don't eat me! I have a wife and kids. Eat them!"

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

For a moment it really was annoying ,but if I had a mother that is as creepy as hers, I think the F word id the least thing to say.

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

which word? Fine? Fast? For real?Father? Are you sleepy yet?? ;-)

Please people it is just a word, an intensifier, and loads and loads of smart people use it excessivelyto me it added to the film, the way they talked was real.

So who having a problem with a word for procreational gymnastics is NOT American may I ask?

I love that word - there, I 'said' the L-word!!! ^^

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

I disagree that it was real. I grew up during this time and I never said that word in front of my parents and my friends didn't either. I might say it now that I'm grown but never in front of anyone older than me out of respect.

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

Better not watch The Wolf of Wall Street.

Welcome in 2016!

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

Who cares?
It's a message board. People discuss random things. People who care respond.

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

Suddenly I must be getting old because almost everyone I know in their 20's and teens uses the F word like it's the word THE.

I do curse if I am mad and sure once in a while. But to use it around people you don't know just makes you look a little trashy. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

The. book is incredibly well written, although that doesn't necessarily mean it has a great PLOT. The screenplay maybe is not so articulate, but I didn't notice the "f" word which really has nothing to do with whether one is articulate or not. There a lot of stupid people who never say the "f" word (they're often called "Christians")and a lot of smart people who say *bleep* all the *bleep* time, so really who gives a *bleep*?

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

Profanity is the linguistic crutch for the inarticulate mother *beep*

***EDIT: I love IMDb but I don't understand their "nasty word" policy. I doctor them up with little starsit's obvious what I am conveying without using a particular word. For example, when using the short version of fornication, they just bleep it out, as in above. And that's my fav wordcan be utilized for many expressions and a punch at "the moment" makes me a nice girl. What I mean is, is that I don't use the real word, just a few letters.

It's okay there movie guys peopley'all own this site and it's your rules.

Your house, your story.

That is all.

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

IMDb's "nasty word" policy is a huge joke. Check the main page for this film (and others) and scroll down to the Quotes. It's ridiculous. I guess when the F word is used in a film, it's OK to see, but when a poster tries to use it, it's not. Again, ridiculous.

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

It's indicative of a lack of talent, by the actors or the writers. Someone will argue that great actors like DeNiro use profanity. Great is as great does.

There was no profanity in Hollywood for 40 years, but we had villains, crooks, tough guys, nasty women, hookers, etc. In the pre-code era, there was lots of provocative dress and trashy conduct, but no profanity. Why? The audiences didn't want it, nor would they tolerate it.

The Hayes code [circa 1933] put an end to most of the above for decades, but profanity has not improved the movie experience one bit since.

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

Honestly didn't notice If you can't handle adult language, then don't watch mature movies, and problem solved.

"Your mother puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?!"

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

Even though I agree with you, you have to remember that Boyhood is FULL of f-bombs as well. Is it really a mature movie for adults? Not really. Without the f-word, it would be a familial pleasure about growing up and living your life.

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

actually that's something I have noticed. not only the crudeness factor has gone up, even in comedies, but the movies themselves are not even good. jeez, did city slickers have to have cursing every other minute to be great?

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

When it comes to profanity, less is more.

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

"When it comes to profanity, less is more"

Agree 100%. I am watching this movie right now, and one of the characters said "fuc#" three times in one sentence. It's overkill. It seems like they started overusing this word a few years ago in movies, kind of like a "shock value" thing, trying to be edgy and ballsy. It's gotten now to where the word is just annoying. I am FAR from being a prude, don't get me wrong. I've used the word more than a few times in my life, but when it is uttered over and over again in a sentence, it honestly does come across as lazy and unimaginative. I grew up in this time frame and nobody that I knew used the word this much, nor do they now. It's keeping me from being interested in the movie and I doubt I will finish it.

Re: Did they say the F word enough in this movie….

I remember the lead actress from the The Descendants where she gave her dad hell, hated her since, now with this movie I hate her more.
