Re: No Sex?
maybe no sex because it was a children's book series and because tris is like 16 and four is like 30
Re: No Sex?
Four is 18 in the books, and both are virgins, they spend a lot more nights together in the booksbut he respects her choice of going slow.but they do get a lot closer in the next 2 movies..
Re: No Sex?
and they're both from abnegation, which is like being raised mormon or jehovah witness, neither of which believe in premarital sex.

Re: No Sex?
Yeah, because The Hunger Games is the ONLY story where people sleep in the same bed without having sex. Good god, maybe you ought to watch more TV and movies and read more books.

You know a lot of people who sleep together and don't have sex? I don't.

Do you know any people married longer than 7 years? Then you know people who sleep together and don't have sex - haha!

Im pretty sure katniss and peeta were sleeping in the same bed because it was the only way ether of them could sleep. no so much because they liked doing it. Also four and tris are in a relationship and katniss and peeta were suffering from PTSD. not really the same.
Re: No Sex?
I hope they have full on sex scenes in the next ones lmao.. Are you serious with this post ? It's a book for kids and I don't think hot sex scenes would really fit into the target audience . Theres no sex scenes in THG or Maze Runner etc.. so I doubt they will start here. Who knows though . I'm not a book reader of this but I was shocked I liked it once I saw it on HBO
Re: No Sex?
Divergent isn't a children's book series it is a YA series. Clifford the Big Red Dog is a children's book and so are the works of Dr. Seuss, whereas Divergent, The Hunger Games and books by John Green are all YA books meant for ages 13 and up.
Re: No Sex?
Most..not all, Young Adult books do not have sexual contentas in Twilight, the author has them wait till they are married..
Re: No Sex?
Pretty sure its illegal for them to have sex under 18 or in childrens books.

I'm still disappointed there wasn't more sex in Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Re: No Sex?
It's funny that Four is a virgin in the books because in the movie I can't picture him being a virgin because he looks much older than 18. That's the impression I got anyway.
Re: No Sex?
I think the point is that they 2 leading protagonists were not the only young people sharing a pretty cramped accommodation. All those young hormones sharing showers? There would have been a lot of sexual activity going on.
I am a very decisive person, I think.

Me either
Re: No Sex?
I hate to go there but yeah, watching the original Clifford (before John Ritter's death) I remember thinking.. oh gosh, this is a huge male dog stuck on an island ew. I would not want to look at that heaven forbid I really expected Clifford to accidentally sit on the mayor or some other person and see a reaction. I kept wondering where the heck did he hike or whatever just ew. If I was mayor on that island, that dog would be sent to Africa or somewhere ew.

"Young Adult" is a ridiculous phrase. Someone who is thirteen is not an adult, "young" or otherwise: they're a child. It's entirely correct to call anything written to appeal to a 13 year-old as a children's book, no matter how many precious teens (and people old enough to know better) get upset about the nomenclature.
A young adult is someone from 18-25, perhaps: not someone who can't drink, drive, smoke, or even leave the house without permission. You know, like an adult.
Re: No Sex?
What they can and cannot do is not the point. At 13 sex is something you're very interested in, and if a book or movie won't mention it, then you're going to learn on youporn instead. What would you prefer for your children ?
When I was in my early teens I learned a thing or two reading Jean M. Auel's Earth's Children series, plenty of sex in that.

Are you saying its ok to teach kids 13 and up that its ok to have sex? cause i watch maury and I'm pretty sure 13 year old and up should stop having sex, they are not too bright.
Re: No Sex?
The characters are not 13 yo.

Who said the characters were 13.

so according to you only people UNDER 13 should be allowed to have sex?

"Divergent isn't a children's book series it is a YA series."
I sorta missed my childhood due to illnesses year after year, then went into another life by age 21 and totally hated kids, decided not to have kids and even hated the young adults my age at church and school for being so "immature" right? So, here I am 53, thinking "what the *Bleep* is a YA Book, a YA series?"
I came up with everything: Youth Awareness, half of the "Ya - Ya Sisters" and Swedish slang for yes. That's pathetic isn't it? LOL!!
Felt the need to bore you all with that info - *YA!*

Re: No Sex?
Hi ya!
How Ya Doin'?
YA stands for Young Adult
I'm over 50, too, and if you ask me, Young Adults are basically Old Children.
I pick up OC books - sorry, YA books from the library sometimes. I like them because they're so easy to read. It's kinda like watching television; you can fly through them in about a day and a half.
BTW
know any people married longer than 7 years?
. . . you were reading my mind.
I don't care what anybody says, that's funny right there.

All of those young healthy folks and there are no romantic relationship - to speak of? This was not a very good movie. The only thing I liked about it was Ashley Judd.
More important things than that dirty stuff to put in a film. We watch films for entertainment, not sleaze.
Re: No Sex?
Yes but a nice subtle love/sex scene is always welcome hehe.
It doesn't have to be totally graphic or with full nudity it can be something like the Christmas party scene in the English Patient, the love scene between Henry VIII( Eric Bana) and Mary Boleyn (Scarlett Johannson )in The Other Boleyn Girl, Legends of the fall, Troy, The Last of the Mohicans and many other sex scenes With almost no nuditty but tottaly hot.
I'm sure the audince for Divergent, Twilight and those stuff do like stylish and nice Looking sex scenes, unless girls under 13, every woman since their teens like a nice love scene.

Re: No Sex?
Sex is not sleaze or dirty! WTH is wrong with you? That's the kind of belief that leads to people acting out unhealthily, like Josh Duggar. Sexuality is a beautiful part of being alive and hiding it from young people and teaching them it's dirty or sleazy is wrong.
What really gets me is that you seem to have no problem with kids watching movies with tons of violence, but sex is the thing that need to be avoided. How twisted can you get? That's the American way. Completely backwards.

Re: No Sex?
there should have been. this was a joke compared to the book; while the book was YA fiction with was written like a *beep* PG movie.
Re: No Sex?
Divergent is rated PG-13 which makes sense since the books are YA. You're acting like the books are along the lines of the A Song Of Ice and Fire series and then got watered down for the film. The author thought the movie was good and she's the one who has the right to be the most critical of an adaptation of her work. Your opinion is invalid.
Re: No Sex?
Maybe there's no sex because all the initiates are sharing one big room. Might put a dampener on the mood if you knew everyone in the room would be listening in.
In the book, there are cameras all over the Dauntless base, so I'd imagine that would put the kids off as well

Re: No Sex?
That was my thinking. I don't think many of them would want to have sex while everyone else was there and cameras recording everything that was going on in there.

Re: No Sex?
Turns out every YA writer these days is Mormon. Also, I don't know what kind of teenagers you grew up with but absolutely every one that I grew up with waited until their 20s and they were married before they had sex. Even the ones that had kids in high school. Yep. All virgins. Haha
Re: No Sex?

Or not. Why would anyone expect any YA book to have teens having sex in it? First of all, not all teens are sluts. Secondly, there are more important things to have going on in a book than sex. If you want to read about sex, go and buy some adult erotica book.
Re: No Sex?
Sluts? Wow. Having sex doesn't make you a slut. It makes you human. WTH?
Re: No Sex?
Or not. Why would anyone expect any YA book to have teens having sex in it?
Because that would be reflective of real life emotional situation?
First of all, not all teens are sluts.
That is quite irrelevant, since you dont automatically become a slut for having sex.

Re: No Sex?
your title sounded like something I would say on here about a movie. ALL movies need sex an female nudity!
Re: No Sex?

Dude, aren't you a little to old to be thinking about sex between teenagers? Does that make you a Perv, a Creeper or a Chomo?
Anyway, There is obviously some sex somewhere. How else do you explain the children/teenagers? But this isn't a porno. They don't just smash for no reason. And Tris just had her 1st kiss. She's not going to jump from first kiss to sleeping together the same night.
Re: No Sex?
First, you know theres a difference between "romantic relationship" (which there definitely was) and SEX right? Secondly, you think a movie can only be good if there is sex in it? Or is "young" and "healthy" code for you want to see some teenagers banging? Nothing wrong with sex scenes of course but I dont think there was a place for one in this particular movie. would have seemed out of place in this film I think. kind of glad they didnt and Im a fan of porn. Now, if this is just about seeing Woodley get naked then go rent White Bird in a Blizzard and stop expecting every movie to have a sex scene in it.

just because it has no porn for you to enjoy, doesnt mean the movies bad

Running with this aspect mentioned earlier, I could never figure out why there were no teenage pregnancies at Hogwarts not to mention magical STDs. Separate dorms be damned we know teenagers will find a way.

Re: No Sex?
I feel like they could't add scenes like that to a movie like this because it's major audience is young adults and teens and i don't think parents would feel okay letting their kids see a movie with sex scenes in it. It has a quiet romance throughout it. Tris and Four are drawn towards each other and I find it pretty accurate. And i feel like adding sex scenes to a movie is unnecessary because it draws in people that just want to see those scenes and not the actual movie. but in this case, since it is a movie that most of its fan base are quite young, then a kiss here and there is all it needs.
