O.T. Gran Hotel. Be careful, it's addictive!

I know that most posters here like genre shows, and hence probably won't enjoy a Spanish period soap, but I'll recommend it anyway, because it is strangely addictive. It's on Netflix and it's called "Gran Hotel". Last night I binged eight episodes (stayed up until 3.30 in the morning) and tonight hubby and I turned off the telly at 2.30! It's like classical CW soaps ten times over, with incredibly beautiful people, convoluted plots, secrets and lies, terrific sets and lovely Castilian Spanish. The actors are surprisingly good, and throw themselves with passion into the sometimes over-the-top melodrama. Anyway, most people probably will find it unwatchable , but if you like romance, the Julio/Alicia ("Julicia"?) romance is truly EPIC and STAR CROSSED in a way that I haven't seen on television for a long time.

It's got a beautiful array of melodramatic tropes:

I watched it on Netflix. It's a good show.

I agree ! Very addictive.

Yes, it's romance, but very well done with some characters ( Xavier for example) who break the "mellow" side of it.

Excellent suspense too and a good villains.

I liked it too.

If you like this I highly recommend The Borgias (the one with Jeremy Irons) and Victoria with Jenna Coleman (doesnt hurt that shes very easy on the eyes😉)
