Britney Spears : Teen Pop Britney vs. "Adult" Britney
Re: Teen Pop Britney vs. "Adult" Britney
Teen Britney by far!
Re: Teen Pop Britney vs. "Adult" Britney
Probably Teen Pop, but I do consider 'Blackout' to be her best album. It's a hard question, really.
Re: Teen Pop Britney vs. "Adult" Britney
Her teen pop stuff is cute, but I like her best during her transition period from Britney through Blackout (or would you call that adult?) Glory is also shaping up to be a major fav album and that is definitely adult
Re: Teen Pop Britney vs. 'Adult' Britney
Adult Britney. I'll always have a special place in my heart for Teen Britney though. In The Zone is just a pop classic.

^This!
I actually still love Teen Pop Britney music (makes me so nostalgic, I think Baby One More Time has to be like the most perfect pop song ever) but I do love the beautiful strong adult woman she has become.

Adult "In The Zone" era...even "Blackout"

I actually believe "In the Zone" and "Blackout" to be her best work.
When she was going through the rough patches in her life, midway through teenager and adult. (She wasn't a girl, not yet a woman. )
Her earliest work has gotten dated a little. (Like everything from the 90s is becoming.)
And aside from Glory, Britney Jean and Pretty Girls were her worst work. (Was really scaring me for the new album, but it is a beautiful album that probably is going to end up in my top 5 of hers.
I got a monkey in my pants, watch how it grows.

Despite being a tween and in the right demographic for Britney's earlier stuff when she first debuted, I was never compelled by her then hits. I certainly found Baby One More Time, (You've Drive Me) Crazy, Sometimes and Ooops I Did It Again generic, which I

still do today (I Was Born To Make You Happy is an exception). Frankly, I personally thought that Britney were gaining more substance and credibility as an artist in her 2001-2004 period, despite that most of her music was even more generic than her earlier stuff (and she was even more sexed up). But music-wise, I find her 2007 to 2011-stuff to be more melodic and catchy. So I'll defintively give a vote for Britney's music at that period.

Adult Britney. In the Zone is my favorite Britney album.
Re: Teen Pop Britney vs. "Adult" Britney
Teen pop. She sung live and seemed much more passionate about her music and generally about her career.
Re: Teen Pop Britney vs. "Adult" Britney
I became a fan with her 2001-2004 eras. I thought her sexier songs were a lot better than her earlier projects. I can appreciate her early work, now, but back then I thought it was boring and her voice was not as strong to really make me want to listen to those love songs. Her voice fit the sexy club dancing chick, in my opinion, which is why she's probably still releasing that kind of music.

Teen Britney to 2003!
Re: Teen Pop Britney vs. "Adult" Britney
Britney's best era musically was 2001-2008.
I love all of her music, but the BOMT/OIDIA albums were very formulaic and superficial. The Brit 2000 ney album still had a little bit of that teen pop flavor but she went out of her comfort zone with songs like Slave and Boys.
In the Zone and Blackout are both masterpieces (for the most part). I love the more dark and moody side to her music.
The Chaotic EP, And then we kiss, and some of the other Original Doll era songs were also great. If you've never heard the song Welcome to Me, you're missing out!
Circus was kind of a modgepodge of different styles but it still had some great songs like Unusual You, Shattered Glass, and Mannequin. Her personality shone through on that album.
Everything she has released since then has felt less authentic to me. Glory is a good start back in the right direction though.

Re: Teen Pop Britney vs. "Adult" Britney
I already posted on this thread but I had another point I wanted to make. While I liked some of the singles that came off her teen pop style albums, I didn't the albums were good as a whole. In the Zone IMO was Britney's first good album. I honestly didn't like Blackout, Circle, Femme Fatale, or Britney Jean. Glory IMHO is easily her best album In the Zone. Glory made me have more respect for Britney as an artist. The album reminded me a lot of Madonna's Ray of Light album and that album is my favorite album of all time. I'm not a Britney hater I swear, I'm just very picky about her music. I'm sorry if this post came off as offensive.

I actually think her music got a lot better by 2001-2004. Some of the songs she sang during her bubblegum/teen pop era weren't all that bad, namely "Heart" which is a beautiful B-side and "You Drive Me Crazy", but most of the songs she sang during her teen pop career were so cheesy, bland and generic.
