I don't think Batman v Superman deserves to be on the list but Suicide Squad 100% deserves it.

BvS earned its spot there, but Batfleck hasn't.

Surprised to see Assassin's Creed on that list though. Haven't seen it yet.

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

I know, what the hell!? I knew the film would be on there, however not Affleck. What a load of *beep*. Snyder doesn't deserve to be on here either.

Honestly though, divergent or Alice in Wonderland should take the Razzies away from Dawn of Justice.

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

Batman v Superman is the most underwhelming movie of 2016, considering it had 2 massive international heavy-weights

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

That has nothing to do with the quality of either Batman v Superman or its competitors. If they judge quality via personal preference and which movie let them down most based on their biased hype, then the awards are no longer valid.

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

According to no one but you.

Look at the audience scores for Civil War on RT.

It was never expected to make Avengers level money because it wasn't an Avengers film. It was still billed as a Captain America sequel.

It made so much more than Winter Soldier while setting up the next Avengers, Spider-Man and BP, so mission accomplished.

If Avengers Infinity Wars underperforms, then you'll have a point. Doubt it will though. Avengers brand is strong.

And it had Spider-Man in it who is the biggest Marvel Superhero of all time and is on the same level as Superman and Batman and yet that still didn't bring in higher numbers. I personally think Spider-Man should have been introduced in his own movie first and been an established hero like he was in the Civil War comic books instead of a newbie. Having Iron Man overshadow Spider-Man was a huge mistake and not introducing Carol Danvers when she had a whole graphic novel dedicated to her role in Civil War and was the first superhero Tony went to 'cause she was the most powerful one he knew was a mistake too.

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

It's the number one film of 2016 so it's done it's job.

You know how many studis would kill to average a billion dollars per film like Marvel.

As for the comics angle I completely disagree. The Civil War comics was trash.

I disagree. While it might not have been the comic book event to end all events a lot of people liked it which is why it got a movie and video game made of it and a Civil War 2. The comic book had a far better cast including Ms Marvel, the X Men, Spider-Woman, Fantastic Four members, Daredevil and the Sinister Six and while I can understand they couldn't use some of those characters there was nothing preventing them from using Ms Marvel other than sexism. It was bad enough they put the Black Widow in before Ms Marvel when Carol Danvers is Marvel's biggest selling female superhero but they took out a character that had one of the biggest roles in Civil War 'cause she was more powerful than the other superheroes. If she was Mr Marvel she would have been included for sure.😠

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

It pretty much was an Avengers movie, did anyone think it would make less than a billion?

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

False.

Man of Steel was a dissapointment from the get go:

Warner Bros. motion pictures group president Jeff Robinov went so far as to predict it will be the studio’s highest performer ever. That would mean the 3D movie, which cost about $225 million to produce and another $150 million to market and release around the globe, would have to top the $1.3 billion cume for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” and the $1 billion-plus each earned by four other Warner releases, “The Dark Knight,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” and “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.”

http://variety.com/2013/film/news/warner-bros-sets-bar-high-for-latest-and-priciest-incarnation-of-superman-1200493334/

That is why they added the entire Justice League in Man of Steel 2 which was renamed Batman v Superman.

They thought if Superman could make close to $700 Million surely Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman would make over a $1 Billion but BvS never made it past $850 Million.

If Man of Steel was supposed to make over $1 Billion imagine how much they expected BvS to make when it had a bigger budget and bigger names attached (Batman, Wonder Woman)

Captain America: Civil War had no expectations. When Kevin Feige and Bob Iger (CEO of Disney) were asked if they expected Civil War to break Avengers records they said no for one simple reason: It's a Captain America film with Captain America in the title. It did break records tho and is the number #1 Film of 2016.

Infinity War is the one expected to break The Avengers record.

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

Underwhelming has nothing to do with quality. The Razzies tend to ignore bad films in favor of Hollywood blockbusters that under performed. Most of the time they're mindless sheep who say something is bad when it really isn't, like Faye Dunaway's performance in Mommy Dearest.

May the Force be with you.

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

Having two DC heavy weights means it was bound to make lots of money, which it did. It did not fail in that regard.

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

True, in the end thats all that really matters to the company

I have to disagree on Independence Day. Liked it better than the first one, and the way they were hooking the sequel, gave me a Babylon 5 vibe.

Yeah I did. I expected mindless sci-fi entertainment and I got that. With a promise for potentially more in the sequel, if there's ever one.

Hahahahahaha!!

Some well deserved Razzies all around.

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

Coincidently no one complained when "Batman Begins" was nominated for a Razzie. Nah, Nolan's seman tastes amazing.

LOL. You're getting triggered and desperate trying to defend the crappy DCEU.

Katie Holmes was forced on Nolan by Warners.

After the Razzie, she was replaced by another actress.

Nolan did everything right in that situation.

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

It's funny really, K-fall. The complain about the critics reaction toward DCEU but let's not forget The Dark Knight trilogy was critically acclaimed and last time I checked thats still DC

Nope. I provided a fact. Must be triggered. This thread was made because Batman v Superman are nominated for Razzie. I simply pointed out that the beloved "Batman Begins", was also nominated.

Katie Holmes was forced on Nolan by Warners.

Evidence?

After the Razzie, she was replaced by another actress.

You mean after scheduling conflicts occurred and she chose the other film.

Nolan did everything right in that situation.

There's a little something on your cheek tunzafun.

Must have splashed over from your grip on Snyder's wang. You definitely are triggered trying to be an apologist for the rotten DCEU.

You're providing half-truths with your supposed facts. The razzie was only for Katie Holmes, and Nolan and Warners promptly corrected the situation.

The film was still received excellently with critics and audiences.

Also, scheduling conflicts are a common PR tactic to cover up any actor or actress dishonorably being fired or leaving a role. Especially in the 2000s.

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

A razzie is a razzie regardless. If the only Razzie Batman v Superman was nominated for was that of an actor, you would have made a huge deal of it. So the dumping of Holmes is pure speculation on your part? To the point where you cannot link proof. I think enough has been said.

Also, again you say i defend the DCEU, yet i hate Suicide Squad. Doesn't make much sense does it?

Re: Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman on the Razzie shortlist

Katie was horrible and deserved to win.

But you are right people love sucking on Nolan's dick.

His only great movie imo is Interstellar.

Razzie nomination for a component of "Batman Begins":

• WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR (Holmes)

Potential Razzie nominations for "BvS: Dawn of Justice" or components of it:

• WORST PICTURE
• WORST PREQUEL, REMAKE, RIPOFF OR SEQUEL
• WORST SCREENPLAY (Goyer & Terrio)
• WORST DIRECTOR (Znyder)
• WORST ACTOR (Affleck)
• WORST ACTOR (Cavill)
• WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR (Eisenberg)
• WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR (Irons)

I loved Batman Begins but if Holmes hadn't been nominated for a Razzie, I'd have to have done it myself. And that was the opinion of most leaving the theatre when I went to see it.
