Maybe evidence of their treatment? I'm not justifying the actions of this person BTW.

From what I've read, the trans identity was very recent, and it doesn't seem like anyone who knew her referred to her as he/him (or the "Aiden" name) or recognized her male identity. An acquaintance she reached out to right before the murders called her Audrey and "she." The killer even signed her name "Audrey (Aiden)" in one of the messages. A family friend referred to her as she/her. Her own mother said, "my daughter." Some of Hale's social media said he/him, but there was at least one that still had the Audrey name.
The early reports were that the killer was female, so they must have looked at her body to determine that (unless she had an ID on her, but I doubt that's how they determined she's a woman), which means her body was still anatomically female. It seems like the only thing to go on in terms of the trans identity is a few social media profiles. Although maybe something will be in the "manifesto" they found, or they'll find someone who was closer to her.
