It's a Canadian teenage melodrama. Started in the 80's as the Kids on Degrassi Street. Evolved to Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High. Went away for awhile, and when I was a teen in the 00's, they came out with Degrassi: The Next Generation. Had some of the old cast as adults and parents of the new characters. The rapper Drake got his start on this show under his real name Aubrey Graham. I think Drake is his middle name.

It was like a horror movie tonight it was terrible I never even barely watch the show but I watched it cause it was said something was to kick off in it but I wasn’t expecting that bloody hell

He meant to attack daisy but Ryan got it instead but it is awful for both of them literally heart breaking to watch

Not really. These are grown people and many are seniors that have been on the show for years.

I guess all soap opera/melodrama type shows are similar. Degrassi is kind of one.

Yeah Coronation Street is known for its over the top disasters like trains derailing and crashing into houses.

Degrassi seems kinda groubded in reality, but so much happens to these characters, like a school shooting, hate crimes, murder, etc.

You should watch TNG. When a lot of the cast leaves, it goes downhill, but like the first decade of the show is as good as the 80's one.
One of the main characters is Spike's daughter. Snake is a major adult character. Joey comes in a bit later, but becomes a main guy and a father figure to one of the teens.
Caitlyn comes back at some point as a prominent character and there are a few cameos.
