I was hoping that one of them would get bitten or killed by a raider since that's what the show is about.
But that didn't happen. They lived 10 years like that together? So really that cordyceps pandemic wasn't all that dangerous 2 gay dudes can survive 10 years together in a house on a deserted neighborhood without getting bitten or robbed. So they kill themselves.

I was looking forward to seeing all the shit Bill, Ellie and Joel go through together, but holy fuck did they elevate all that tension, fun and excitement into something truly unique for 2023.
The original creator always said he wanted the movie/series to be like No Country for Old Men with its tone, they sure nailed that with their stupid pandering gay bullshit.
I remember you don’t find out Ellie is a Lesbian at all in the original game, not without the DLC. I guarantee the show runner will take advantage of that to spend more time showing just how progressive their story is.

That is what happens in the game pretty much, Joel is getting drowned in a puddle and Ellie rush's in picks up his gun and shoots the guy in the face, rather than say thank you Joel gets a bit mad and takes the gun from her……then like 5 minutes later he gives her a rifle to cover him, then after the encounter gives her a little pistol

there's backstory development, world building, history of the government killing healthy citizens during the outbreak, character development, you learn more of joel and tess's history, you get introduced to raiders existing, and this episode changed how joel perceived the world and gave him more of a motivation to protect ellie. at the end of both the show and game, they end up with the same results – they got a car, fuel, and guns.

it's not a romance show, it was one episode highlighting characters that are canonically gay. romance, surprisingly, will still occur during these situations. there wasn't even a whole ass sex scene, so don't understand why that's even being discussed.
it was a nice, heartwarming episode which still gave context and information, and helped progress the motives of the main characters and the story. it was needed after the stressful events from previous episodes and definitely future episodes to come.
