Philosophy : Why is violence entertaining?

What kind of a sick society are we that just about every show you see has violence just for violence sake? Why do people get off on someone getting beaten up?

It makes you vicariously feel powerful. Except when you identify with the guy getting beat up.

As Tarantino said, it's just so much fun!
