The Twilight Zone : This afternoon's boonanza Sunday special

This afternoon's boonanza Sunday special

Time Enough at Last (S1, E8)

This was always one of my favourites because I could relate to Mr. Bemis' love of reading.

Eye of the Beholder (S2: E6) This is another classic that left an impression. It was so well-done. Great reveal.

Re: This afternoon's boonanza Sunday special

Are there any worthwhile eps in theblast 2 seasons? Watched the whole show up until then. The quality of the writing seemed worse and I lost interest.

Re: This afternoon's boonanza Sunday special

I'm not really familiar with them by season. Mostly, I remember them by episodes, and which ones stand out the most. Are there any episodes you remember taking a particular liking to, or that resonate with you?

Right now, the one that's on is (S5: E6) Living Doll. This one's also a classic. It's harsh looking at how barbaric Telly Savales is in this episode. He plays a very nasty husband/step-father who seems incredibly insecure.

I wouldn't be surprised if this episode helped spawn those movies like Chucky and Annabelle, or various other talking doll horror flicks.

EDIT: I just noticed the name of the mother is Annabelle!

Re: This afternoon's boonanza Sunday special

Oh yeah, they influenced a lot of later stuff. I love the episode rhat inspired Cube, but not a big fan of the twist ending. I forgot the name, but they end up being toys in the end. There was a ballerina, a clown and I think a cop, or maybe the cop was just in Cube.

I love the episodes dealing with time travel and their present day. Like when they talk about the inflation then being high, and it's like a ridiculously low amount of money.

There are so many good ones, and it's been a while since I watched them, so I know I'm missing some.

Re: This afternoon's boonanza Sunday special

Cube had to do with people trapped in a series of "cubes" that they had to navigate. There were three Cube movies, and I enjoyed them all.

The episode you're thinking of in the first instance is where it's a Salvation Army donation barrel and it's really dolls inside and they think they're people trapped in a room. They keep hearing "bells" that are very loud which shake them up. That's the sound of the Salvation Army bell being rung!

The other episode to which you refer is a gang of robbers steal gold and put themselves into a type of cryo-sleep in these chambres for 100 years, thinking that when they wake up, they'll be millionaires. The problem is, by the time they wake up, everything around them is a desert, there's no water, and gold isn't worth anything. The one "survivor" is discovered by a couple in a flying car. Definitely a classic.

Now on is Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up (S2: E28) which I always thought was one of the better classic episodes.

I've been watching them intermittently this afternoon while doing laundry, rearranging some furniture, and doing vacuuming.

Re: This afternoon's boonanza Sunday special

That episode is on now:(S3: E14) Five Characters in Search of an Exit

Re: This afternoon's boonanza Sunday special

I just wish it ended vaguely like Cube did. Maybe put the clues there, but not give you an answer. I like doing brain work outside of a show, book, or film.

Re: This afternoon's boonanza Sunday special

This is one of the most famous episodes ever! Next Stop Willoughby.

Whenever I hear the name Willoughby, my mind immediately goes to this TZ episode!

Re: This afternoon's boonanza Sunday special

I thought about tagging you when Willoughby came on!

At one point, I thought you, Dazed, NZer and I spoke about this episode being such a treasure.

Willoughby truly is a treasure.

Walking Distance is another.

This show really is the very best of television.
