Re: 'The Cross'

Vincent with Orli hmmmm sounds like green olives and orange marmalade together laugh.gif Could be interesting, though. Always a pleasure to see Vinz on the big screen.

Re: 'The Cross'

Oh no nonsense, MadameCassel, hey now, I happen to LOVE olives, hahaI don't know about orange marmalade, thoughsounds kinda gross, LOL perhaps, I got the food 'examples' switched here, olives (Orlando?) orange marmalade (Vincent?) which orange marmalade doesn't suit Vince at all, which it's probably meant for Orlando, *sigh* I think I got it backwards, yep I'm thinking I didhaha oh well, it doesn't matter regardless.but anyhow, back to the original discussion at hand, I honestly think it would be a unique movie pairing and I cannot wait until it starts filming to see some behind the scenes pics of them both! Looks like it'll be a cool, fun movie to me fight3.gif iloveu.gif

Re: 'The Cross'

Yes, yes it does indeed. At least after I got over my first impression.

Don't get me wrong. I have many times furiously defended Orlando against all kinds of bashers, because it's not his fault he's beautiful AND he's not even that bad an actor. I don't like him being ridiculed or mocked. There are far worse choices for actor than Orli.

BUT

I see a difference in energy. You know, the kind of energy that people project outside? Does any of you watch The Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan? Cesar talks a lot about energy and he projects strong, vibrant, very confident energy. Vincent's energy is glowing, electric, borderline nervous sometimes, while Orlando's is soft and harmonious. Nothing wrong with that, neither is more "right" than the other, they are just different. And that is what makes me wonder how well they'll suit to play together.

BUT evil4.gif

on the other hand, look at Vincent's electric energy next to Viggo's quiet, determined energy in Eastern Promises. Perfect match, should I say.

Oh well, I wonder if you understood a word I was saying? wild.gif

Hm, I am neutral when it comes to Orlando Bloom. I don't have anything against him, and nothing for him. wink.gif I only saw him in "Lord of the rings&5b4quot; and "Pirates of the Caribbean" - he was okay, nothing spectacular. But that roles didn't really challenged him, they were not very exacting.

Yes - but: Vincent can play quiet and subtle, as he did for example in "Agents Secrets" or "Read my lips". I am looking very forward to them playing together. I read the script, which was linked over on the Andrew Nicool - board. Sounds great.

I don't know if Orlando Bloom is a good actor, and I don't know if he is a match for Vincent. But I really hope, that Vincent will tickle out every inch of talent that Orlando has within him.

Re: 'The Cross'

Yes, let's hope so laugh.gif. It's like Cronenberg squeezes the best out of Viggo, he's amazing in his movies. Maybe Vincent's prescense will do the same to Orlando wink.gif

Re: 'The Cross'

No, I understand you perfectly, it does seem a bit odd to put Vince and Orlando together because they are two very different actors, personalities, and you're right, very different energies but I'll try to give the casting director the benefit of the doubt, not because I'm an Orlando fan or Vincent fan, but because it's something new and exciting, at least for me, for a change. Oh there's no need to defend Orlando, I won't bite anyone's head off if they have a different viewpoint/perception on him, I definitely welcome everyone's ideas, I try to be open minded about all opinions because there might be someone out there that could teach me a thing or twoor ten LOL No one person is bad because I might agree or disagree with them, oh and another thing, good thing you mentioned the movie, I wished I had the money right now to rent 'Eastern Promises', it looked really good in previews and I've been a fan of Viggo's since 'A Perfect Murder' so, I can't wait to scrounge up some loose change to snatch this one up, should be good!

Re: 'The Cross'

You haven't seen Eastern Promises?! Oh you must! It's a fantastic movie, both Viggo and Vincent do a brilliant job in it. It is quietly menacing all way through.

I don't care if people don't appreciate an actor, but bashing someone just because of the way he/she looks, is so infantile that I usually open my mouth and say something. It is a great thing that we have different types of actors and actresses. Wouldn't it be horrible, not to mention boring, if they all looked like Barbie and Ken?! We need all sorts of actors, also the old/fat/thin/big-nosed etc types. That is why someone shouldn't be bashed just because he is beautiful.

Re: 'The Cross'

No, sadly I haven't MadameCassel, but I will soon! Nice to know that it's going to be worth my while when I rent it though, thanks! :)

About the actor bashing, I don't appreciate it either, and I understand if people don't like certain actors/actresses, everyone has an opinion on who they don't like or dislike, that's perfectly normalbut let it be on their acting skills/merits; not on their looks, like you said, because that's so subjective; as they say, 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'i.e. One man I could find good-looking might not be your cup of tea exactly, and vice versa. And if the parties involved could not come to a peaceful solution to solve their issues, then you would have to agree to disagree respectfully. I would hate to live in a world where everyone liked one kind of person because that's all there was.

It's funny you bring that up, I used to play with my barbie dolls when I was younger, but never once was I jealous of her beautyI always thought it was generic, very fake looking, well because it was *literally*. I'm glad I look the way I do, there were years I admit, sadly that I wasn't happy with myself, but you either grow up and learn to love all the unique parts of you or I guess you die lonely and miserable, so I chose to love myself, I'm not perfect, I'll never be, because I know better but that doesn't mean that later I might feel that way, if I choose to change, it will be because I want to and not due to other peoples' influence. But enough about that, back to the topic hereI love and appreciate diversity in all people, it makes good conversation when you are trying to know them, you can learn their history and so on.

Re: 'The Cross'

Oh well, very few of us are perfect. I know I certainly am not.

Actors, like all skilled professionals, should be judged by their abilities to do their job - not because of their beauty. I know looks is one part of their profession, but being beautiful is not absolutely necessary. Take a look at Steve Buscemi, for example, William H.Macy or John C.Reilly. Brilliant actors, all of them.

I hate the rumors that for example the best actor Oscars wouldn't necessarily be given to the best actor performances in the nominated year. If it happens to be a "black year" the golden baldie goes to a black actor, naturellement. I think that both diminishes the value of the Oscars AND undermines the skills of all non-white and/or non-american actors. The best performances should win, always, nevermind the color of the skin. I don't care if an actor is black, white or green with orange spots - if he's good, he's good!
