Sisters murdered, betrayed by mother, Sharia Law

Several men have been arrested after two Spanish sisters who were forced into marrying their cousins in Pakistan were reportedly tortured and shot to death in what is being dubbed a heinous “honor killing.”

Arooj and Aneesa Abbas, ages 21 and 23, were tricked into flying to Pakistan, where their husbands, Hassan Aurangzeb and Atiq Hanif, tried to get their wives to sponsor Spanish visas for them. When the women refused, the young women were tortured to try to get them to comply, and eventually fatally shot, according to the Hindustan Times.

The cousins/husbands, the sisters’ brother, a paternal uncle who was also a father-in-law, another cousin, and the remaining father-in-law were all taken into custody over the weekend in Pakistan. Two other men who are thought to have played a role in the elaborate murder are still at large.

The plot was reportedly hatched after the sisters, who had been living between Spain and Pakistan and who were angry at the arranged marriages they were both trying to end, pretended to apply for visas for the men.

When it became clear they either did not apply, or had intentionally made errors in the applications to avoid having the men come to Spain, the young women were tricked by their own mother into going to Pakistan, where they were allegedly murdered. “The investigations have confirmed that both the sisters were killed in the name of honor,” Muhammad Akhtar, the investigating police officer, told local media.

Once there, they were taken to a location outside of Lahore and tortured and killed by a man who was both a paternal uncle and father-in-law to the eldest sister, authorities said.

The murder highlights the horrific incidence of “honor killings” in Pakistan, where nearly 500 women are thought to be killed in a twisted notion of family respect each year. In 2016, new legislation made it easier to arrest the family members carrying out the killings, but it did not curb the crime rate.

Huh? How would this be the fault of "white men?" It's the fault of a backwards culture that disrespects and invalidates women to the extreme.

Re: Sisters murdered, betrayed by mother, Sharia Law

When I read how the mother was responsible for luring her daughters back so they could be killed in an alleged "honour killing," it made my stomach turn. How a mother can turn her back on her daughters. Then again, she's probably the one who arranged that they marry their cousins. In my head I keep thinking, they reside in Spain part-time, they know what culture they'd be marrying into (since they both didn't want this but were independent enough to reside in another country), why not use your VISA and get your butt to America.

Or….just say "no"? But I know, it's not always as simple as all that.

Lil, the mother is beholden to the toxic régime of Islam herself, and as a woman, she doesn't have the same rights as men. She would have very likely been coerced and bullied with threats.

Re: Sisters murdered, betrayed by mother, Sharia Law

Probably both. It's a shame to think there are parents that would see her children killed rather than lay down her life for them, but it's also unfair of me to presume to know the severity of the mental or physical torture and indoctrination she endured. She may even have been assured of their safety.

I'm on standby to bitch slap the **** out of anyone who tries to spout any hateful rhetoric about any particular group of people.

Pretty sure the Muslims who still hold onto these incredibly barbaric practices are in the minority. But because we hear about them a lot, some of us believe that every Muslim is the same. I will not say that what happened in this story isn't horrible, but what's even worse is the continued hatred of an entire group of people because of the acts of extremists/radicals. There's no way for anyone to learn anything if we continue to let anger and hatred dictate our beliefs and decisions.

You people will suffer the same fate as these radicals; left behind while the rest of us move ever closer to paradise.

Oh get over your phony virtue signaling self. The religion is as toxic and deluded as ****, and while the radicals place a scourge on the more peaceful followers, it is still very questionable within its belief system. Heck, the laws are all surrounding what a sky entity claims and women and homos are second class citizens within the community.

India, another country that should be nuked if humanity is to move forward.

A country where it is considered HONERABLE to kill your own kids if they refuse to marry their cousin and listen to westlife has no place on this earth.

Did you read the article? The women were trying to get out of marrying their cousins which was an arranged marriage, and their mother tricked them to go to Pakistan where they were "tortured and shot to death" which is considered an "honour killing" via Sharia Law.

Re: Sisters murdered, betrayed by mother, Sharia Law

A) marrying your cousin isn't Shariah Law.
B) there is no such thing as an honor killing in Sharia Law. You mentioned Shari'a Law because of your obvious agenda.

Did you read the article?
No I and I don't need to. I know far more about this topic then you do. Arranged marriages aren't a religious thing, they're a cultural thing. You mentioned Shari'a Law when it has nothing to do with this "honor killing", a term created by the press. I know because I am someone of Pakistani heritage and also happen to be Muslim. There's also a considerable distinction between an "arranged marriage" and a "forced marriage". Forced marriages are despicable and evil and unislamic. This is a sad story and these girls deserved better. They were let down on many levels.

If you read what I wrote and disagrees with it, slap yourself. Then proceed to educate yourself before even thinking of responding with a retort.

Re: Sisters murdered, betrayed by mother, Sharia Law

The phrase “honor killing” won’t be found in the Koran nor in any Sunnah of the Islamic prophet Mohammad. The authority for a parent to kill their children or grandchildren for any reason they see fit, however, is found in the sharia (Islamic law), and does come from the Koran and Sunnah of Mohammad.

The Reliance of the Traveller, authoritative Islamic sharia certified by Al-Azhar in Egypt – the highest authority of Islamic jurisprudence on the planet- and the Muslim Brotherhood’s Fiqh Council of North America, states: “retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right.” It goes on to say those “not subject to retaliation” includes “a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring’s offspring.” (‘Umdat al-Salik, Book O Justice, o1.1-2).

This means, in Islam it is okay for a mother and/or father to kill their children or grandchildren with no legal consequences.

This means, in Islam it is okay for a mother and/or father to kill their children or grandchildren with no legal consequences.

This is done when children or family members “dishonor” the family, thus it is called an “honor killing.”

So, even though “honor killing” is not found in the Koran or Sunnah, the authority to do it is.

Some examples in the United States include:

In April 2004 a Turkish Muslim killed his four year old daughter in Scottsville, New York because she was “sullied” by a gynecological exam.

In 2006 a Somali Muslim in Kentucky brutally killed his four children and raped his wife because he suspected her of infidelity.

In January 2008 an Egyptian Muslim shot and killed his two daughters in Irving, Texas. The girls great aunt told reporters they were “honor killings.”

In July 2008, a Pakistani Muslim in Atlanta, Georgia killed his daughter because she did not want to go through with an arranged marriage.

In October 2009, an Iraqi Muslim from Arizona drove over his daughter for being too Westernized. She died two weeks later and he was convicted of her murder.

In October 2009, a Muslim woman in New Brighton, New York tried to kill her husband by slitting his throat because he was not “muslim enough.”

The Department of Justice reports there are approximately 27 honor killings in the U.S. each year.

Pakistani Muslim Muzzimmil Hassan founded Bridges TV in Buffalo, New York as the first Muslim American network broadcasting in English. Bridges TV was established to counter negative stereotypes of Muslim. Muzzimmil Hassan (a close friend of Nihad Awad of CAIR) personally demonstrated his “moderation” by sawing his wife’s head off. In March of 2011, Hassan was sentenced to 25 years in prison for this heinous crime.

All lawful under sharia.

None of that is true. You've quoted a far, far right, extremist, Trump voting, hate speech website that's literally called "Understanding The Threat" with a big American flag plastered over it. How you didn't click that and immediately see red flags is baffling.
