I'd rather have been born in the mid 1930s. As young adults they had good job opportunities/economy and now they're on their way out when the world's going to shit.

No one can really judge how good the past was. I used to glorify how good it must have been and surely movies were better back in the old days, but I would rather live here and now then go back to a different time. My progressive attitudes would not have allowed me to fit in as much.
