after being 'sacked' or rather recast if i were them, i perhaps wouldnt have agreed to do this movie.. maybe thats just me :p

It was a smart career move for both. They are getting a lot more attention and there is even talk of making more Spider-man movies with them.

I'd say they got a nice paycheck and an opportunity to play those characters again was something they wouldn't want to pass up.
So many stories, so little time.
