The Blacklist : Imdb message boards closing…
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
For me, half the fun of watching the show was being able to discuss it here. I'm bummed out!!
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Ditto. For all movies and shows when I watch them not just one or two.

Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Ditto. Lots of shows I'll come on these boards afterwards to read and discuss what I've just seen. This sucks :(
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Whoa. I'm really kind of blindsided by this Kellykeybored. Im so disappointed. I don't recall any discussion about this with those who use this site. Why would they do this. One of the things I've really enjoyed participating in was the back and forth discusssion with some of the posters such as yourself and tessaabolli. I loved the thoughtful insights to the different theories about Red and the others on the show. It was nice to enjoy discussing everything, especially during the long time periods between seasons. Which site is everyone going to? Any ideas where you'll all go? Except for the trolls, I thought it was a pretty good site. And is this for all shows or just blacklist?
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Oh it's everything. It's all the shows, and all the message boards. The one for Politics is one of the most active on imdb, and they are all very upset as well. I read the boards of quite a few shows (Mr. Robot, This is Us, Once Upon a Time, Criminal Minds ARGH!) so I will definitely miss this place and don't really understand the logic of pulling the plug.
As a long time customer of Amazon, I hope they realize that I only come here for the boards and if they are taking the boards away, then I doubt I will continue to use Amazon for anything.
I'm not sure where everyone is going, but I'll put together a list of sites that are still open. I never really cared for social media sites offered by the shows, because text is restricted by length (limited). You know how much I love to ramble on
And some people on tumblr unfortunately post prolifically about their own ideas and theoriesbut don't really welcome a great deal of input. But there are forums like reddit, Entertainment Weekly, tvGuide, several others that still welcome commentary. I would recommend reddit, as they still have a loyal (although diminished)Blacklist fan base and it is well moderated.

Re: Imdb message boards closing…
you can post on facebook long rants. lots of people do. just like here. just sayin'
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Don't care for facebook at all.
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
yeah i know.
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
facebook. everyone is there anyways. lots of constructive threads, no trolls, barely any rules and the boards are moderated. there are 3 of them that are really good, but only 1 gets lots of traffic and discussions. The Blacklist Exposed. it works like a forum. the other two are: The Black Site and CTRT.
there's also tumblr, but mostly for news and spoilers and just postig theories. it's hard there to discuss like on a forum board.

Re: Imdb message boards closing…
I looked at BlacklistExposed on Facebook and it had only 22 comments for Thursdays episode. Not very many more for "who is declaring war on Red." More than here lately I guess but not as much activity as on reddit. Very short posts.
I like the Blacklist Exposed podcasts and really like to listen to Troy and Aaron, but their facebook page doesn't seem like a forum to me. Not much activity.
To each their own.

Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Very disappointing. I have been on these boards a long time and some are actually very active. Especially the Marvel movie boards and Star Wars boards. A lot of trolls too, though.
Facebook comments are too plentiful and hard to sort through for The Blacklist. Oh, well.

Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Bummer.
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Probably because of the half wits who have nothing but negative comments ALL the time on any movie or tv show. Most of us enjoy being able to discuss the programs and not interested in being critical. The there are the arm critics naybobs who runs it for everyone.
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
This is unfortunate.
Although we have seen trolls and negative comments, the convos have been fun and engaging.
I fear that IMDB's site will not be visited much after this since it's only going to be used to see what movie a certain celebrity is starring in.
There are other sites for that.
I always thought that IMDB's popularity was based on the opportunity for people to express their opinions.
I foresee IMDB's site shutting down within 2 years.

I agree. I can't figure out how in the heck they think getting rid of the message boards will benefit their site! I certainly won't come here nearly as much. In fact, I will do my darnedest to stay away in protest.
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
i just got the message.
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
How sad, I am going to miss you guys. This board hosted people from all over the world. I dodn't even know a lot of the alternatives, more USA oriented I suppose. I'll try to find you on one of the other forums. The one you suggested KellyK. Are you going to use the same names?
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Yes, I'm using the same name at reddit.
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Does this include the film & tv reviews?
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Yes, all message boards.
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
don't don't mention reviews, so i guess those will stay.
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
This SUCKS big time. First the Wall street Journal closed without warning and now this site.
INVITATION FOR ALL
I have a muut coment board. It was somewhat active for a while and then it petered out and I was going to close it. I do not moderate it (because I do not believe in it) unless it gets really a troll-like attack, but maybe it can be a good substitute. It is free, and although like IMDB requires to sign up, it works.
I offer it and if it picks up I will not close it, but keep it running. All I ask is no personal attacks on posters. discussion is fine.
http://muut.com/blacklist-discussion#!/
It's all just pieces of a much larger puzzle, and until all the pieces are laying in front of you

The WHOLE point of the IMDB was the Boards
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Apparently, the "whole point" of IMDB now is increasing sales of movies on demand and Amazon Prime subscriptions.

Where to go…
Here are some options. If anyone knows of other sites in addition to those that have already been mentioned, please post your suggestions, thanks.
reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheBlackList/
Forum, includes live thread during episodes. Lots of active threads, well moderated.
Entertainment Weekly: http://ew.com/recap/the-blacklist-season-4-episode-12/
Recaps of episodes and comment section. One of the few places left that you can find a recap of episodes.
Blacklist Refugees (from Blacklist Support Group which closed):
http://blacklistrefugees.boardhost.com/index.php
Golden Spiral Media: "The Blacklist Exposed" podcast, posted Saturdays after Thursday episodes.
http://www.goldenspiralmedia.com/the-blacklist-exposed-podcast
Accompanying twitter, facebook sites for commentary.

Re: Where to go…
those places used to be great and huge during the first two seasons of the show, but not anymore.
reddit is pretty much gone. i can't believe how little traffic it gets.
EW if it gets 15 to 20 comments on their recaps is HUGE. before they went for 200 or 300.
Exposed is great, but only their facebook page where everyone is posting and interacting, not on their site.
Refugees has potential but too many rules and almost no traffic, except for a hand full of same people.
there was also SpoilerTV comments section, but it gets almost no traffic since last season.
i can't believe imdb was the only place left alive, after WSJ shut down. and this one will be gone too.
i'm sad not just for this board, but for all boards for tv shows and movies. i used to read lots of them.

Re: Where to go…

I don't know why you are dissing reddit, they are the most active forum, with tons of active threads.
People can go to reddit and decide for themselves if they like it. It's a forum with threads, just like imdb.
I've used reddit for several years and one thing that always impressed me was the posters were very knowledgeable about the show and there were always intelligent discussions about theories and plot (just like the old days of WSJ!). People knew what they were talking about, and had watched every single episode.
Interest in the Blacklist has declined everywhere online in general, ratings are down compared to previous seasons. It's not just reddit that has taken a hit, but they are still one of the most active sites anywhere.
And the subreddits for other shows get HUGE activity on reddit. For NBC's "This is Us," just the thread for one episode alone gets close to 500 replies. The subs for Mr. Robot and for Hannibal had tons of activity.
Lots of people don't like facebook because they have to use their real name and lose anonymity. I don't like facebook because some posters tend to post without forming coherent sentences. Some people don't mind, but I do, because I have always looked for intelligent online discussion, not haphazard abbreviated thoughts.
To each their own, but thank god for reddit because just like everyone else, I'm heartbroken about losing imdb.
Re: Where to go…
i beg to differ. imdb is way more popular than reddit is right now. the mythology is barely debated these days. on this board the mythology is/was a big part.
i would love for TBL reddit to change and pick up posters.
i understand you don't like facebook and the reasons why, but sadly that's where the big discussions are carried nowadays. as for the anonymity, people can always open a 'fake' account under a different name other than their real one.
tumblr is full of theorists since last year. but it's impossible to carry a convo.
Tessa, did offer muut and that place was awesome before everyone left during the summer hiatus.

Re: Imdb message boards closing…
I don't use any of those platforms except YouTube. What a ripoff!
So IMDB's goal is for users to just rate and review films now? Come on!!

Re: Imdb message boards closing…
FYI:
An admin at TheMovieDB.org has experimentally reopened
their discussion forums for all shows and movies.
Here's their page for The Blacklist:
https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/46952-the-blacklist
See the icons on the left side of the poster-image.
Click the first of those icons to go to the discussion page at:
https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/46952-the-blacklist/discuss
This is still experimental, so there may be some issues.

Re: Imdb message boards closing…
The only issue I have with reddit right now, is that when I comment on an older thread (and they have pages of archives just like imdb), my comment doesn't bump the older thread up to the front page. It stays buried behind pages of more recent posts.
So my attempts to continue a days old (or month old) interesting discussion go unnoticed, and it's hard for me to find any "new" discussions if they are in an old thread. The threads are listed according to the date of the original post, not by any new comments. (If there is a way to remedy this, I haven't found it yet.)
Oh and no emoticons.
I will miss you, imdb.

Re: Imdb message boards closing…
I'm finally in Reddit Kellykeybored so maybe we can at least continue our discussions there. I usually bring the most insightful postings to my blacklist dicusssion. club, so I'm going to misss being able to share the commentary with the theorists in the group. They can always see things with a diffferent eye. The latest idea is that if the spin off with Toms character makes it, that TPTB willl bring TBL to a rapid conclusion with Reds death, so that Liz Dembe and others will be able to cross over to be in the new series. None of us however, sees the new series as a winner mostly because none of the players are that strong and of course the big reason, that there's no James Spader involvement. I have to admit that they're probably right here. I also think that's why Red is so preoccupied with impending death. Any thoughts?
Re: Imdb message boards closing…
I saw your post in reddit, bthompso, it was great to see you there!
I don't remember if you mentioned how your Blacklist discussion group felt about Red shooting/killing Mr. Kaplan?
I know how you feel about Tom, how does your group feel about him? Are they going to watch?
I would be pretty pissed if it turns out that the show runners are setting up Red's demise just to promote their new show. I will never want to watch another Bokenkamp or Eisendrath project!
The worst thing, is that all along they said that the endgame would explain everything and tie all the lose ends together. We shall see if they were telling the truth.
Tom is easy on the eyes, and the show might be interesting, especially when aired during another break when many people are in Blacklist withdrawl (again) so it's better than nothing.
We'll see.

Re: Imdb message boards closing…
Ok. Good Kelly at least I know I'm up on their board. To answer your question on the Kaplan mess, the BL group believes that Red never shot Kaplan to kill her, but to wound her as a punishment for what she had done, and as a warning to never come back in his life or Liz's life and agnes's life again. The only thing that throws a curveball into that is when Red told Kaplan the place in the woods would be hers for "all eternity". So who knows for sure.
I will miss this site though as it is more user friendly than the others.

So after February 20, the message board will be disabled.
They want people to move to other platforms such as twitter, facebook, tumblr, youtube
well it's been a blast. Just don't know what to say so so sad
